Blazblue isn't new user friendly. Almost every character has unique properties and meters and resource management. Its also rated as some of the hardest combos by vesper arcade and desk among others.

You are required to know combos in order to be functional in addition to footsies, spacing and oki.

It is far from new fighter friendly. Street fighter is new fighter friendly. Simply knowing antiair and basic mk xx special type punishes are more than enough to get by. You learn fundamentals and get instantly better than the person learning combos. BB requires learning long combos AND fundamentals.
