Why do all parents believe that animus are for kids?

>Anon-kun, grow up, you're not a kid anymore
>But Mom, animu have an developed story ect ect ...
>>
Because you're watching shit for little kids. When I get caught watching anime it's hentai or Psycho-Pass or some shit, no one over this way thinks it's for babies.

Anime isn't for kids, it's for manchildren.

I see no reason to get married, no incentive other than peer pressure, and I dont care about that.

Well, in the west cartoons are often the go-to medium for child related stories and entertainment. So when confronted with a similar thing (anime) from a foreign place, they quickly avoid it and assume it's of the same nature.

>"But the west has Family guy, Futurama, and American Dad, these are adult shows"
Your are right, sorta. These shows are equivalent to watching PG-13 sitcoms (not saying anime don't have these either). Just enough foul language and innuendo to interest the average viewer.

>"B-but live-action hero movies! That's based on cartoons and comics. A lot of older people watched it"
And the older majority only go to see these movies because they are "live-action!"
Had Avengers or Superman been animated, only the comic fans would have bothered to go see it. The casuals only flocked to these because it was full of action, had explosions and was live-action.

>Probably counts as Reality TV, but the base is so big I think "Follow me Around at my Shitty Job" is in its own tier.
I don't get why these shows are so popular.

I got into anime because my mom and sister loved Candy Candy and RoV.

I want to show them Utena but they're too busy having a life

For the same reason the highschool setting is so popular in anime. Something the working class can relate to.

I think some of them are pretty decent (like Pawn Stars), but they all obviously have the same script writers which is a bit irritating.

Basically, if you aren't watching a drama about our legal system, you are watching a show about rich angry women or teens doing stupid shit.

Any show that is slightly interesting airs at a shit hour that nobody wants to stay up for. US tv died years ago.

A lot of the stuff on HBO is pretty good. I don't think U.S. TV died out, it's just that the horrible parts of it are a lot more accessible.
