Eva is a character driven show and no episode was better at that than ep 15: Those Women Longed for the Touch of Other's Lips, and Thus Invited Their Kisses. Sadly it wasn't a Rei-heavy episode, but its one of the reasons I like Asuka too.

My favorite was the one with the power-outage. I liked the character interaction.

Depends, if eva influenced shows exist anyway it would be seen as derivative, but even if they didn't tastes have shifted and it wouldn't have the impact it did. I don't think it changed robot design, in general they (not EVA) still seem to be based on Gundam/Mazinger Z. I was actually a little disappointed the first time I saw an EVA because of how organic and somewhat grotesque it looked but I've come to love the form.

Kaworu at least has some impact on the story, he's there to me the final yank to Shinji's chain that really sends him over the edge. The first person he's ever met who showed him real unconditional love, and he didn't even know him, and he dies by his own hands. Kaworu is a small character and I don't get the massive shipping that goes on, but then again I don't get shipping in general, but he plays a significant story role.

The one where Shinji sees all his comrades gunned down and in a moment of near suicide he learns that he needs to succeed for them because it's what they worked so hard for, while later still being plagued by PTSD he still pushes on for the sake of others becoming a truly selfless individual.
