>>
>>89870389
Not that guy, but I've read this and I'm still confused.

Isn't the date of the festival more important than the length of the festival? Even if the length of the festival is one day, if the date of the festival is set to be in one week, can England not buy all of the meat on that day, refrigerate it, and process it in the following week?

On top of that, even if the length of the festival was two weeks, why can't England buy the meet during the last week of the festival, thus still buying the meat at the lower price?

Also, why can't Musashi process the meat?
>>
>>89870898
Its a shame how incoherent it still is.
>>
>>89870781
That stack is 2003-2012, I think.
Owari no Chronicle (2003-2005) and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon (2008-ongoing) and the Kimitoasamade Horizon spinoff novels (2011-2012).
The Horizon and Kimitoasamade stacks aren't up to date though, and it also doesn't include the stuff he wrote in the 90s.

If I remember correctly they can't do regular business because that would piss off the people trying to recreate history therefore they're laundering the meat under the premise it's just a festival so they need to do it for at least a week to process it all before the war with Tres Espania and Musashi has more meat than they can consume in two weeks.

>>
>>89870939
I think the first question was discussed during the airing of S2, and I seem to recall that Zeroblade said that England somehow didn't have the means to refrigerate it. I do think it had to do with history recreation.
I think the search function of his tumblr is still broken though, so checking it would be hard.

As for the second question, I guess the Armada Battle coupled with that the meat would take a week to preserve causes time constraints.

Fair enough.

But wasn't England's objective to buy the meat during the second week in the first place? I'm sure that they have the means to preserve in that time.
>>
>>89871262
England needs meat with the war coming up.
>>
>>89871262
>So the meat completely irrelevant?
Why would the thing they are trying to trade be irrelevant?

You are not allowed to trade shit -> Well k, then we have a festival and ...uhh... do a "festive exchange of meat and money" -> Dude what the fuck
>>
>>89871400
Their objective would be striking a balance between having enough time to preserve it while still getting it as close to spoiling as possible to lower the price, right?
I guess buying it in the first week wouldn't be optimal then.
I couldn't make perfect sense out of it while watching the first time either, so I really need to get to rewatching S2.

>>89871369
Faggot.

If you're Japanese? Yes. Anime adaptations of manga and LNs are often primarily a glorified advertisement for the source material.

If you're not Japanese? Sucks to be you. Go read one of the many summaries floating around if you want to understand everything.
>>
>>89871400
I'll try making it short.
War coming up.
Musashi floating around.
Need food bad for war.
Musashi has food.
Try negotiations.
Can't openly negotiate because TU is in bad relations with Musashi!
Eureka! -> cover the trade with a festival(takes time to set up)
Jewish negotiations happen, England gets ripped off, Shirojiro smiles, festival happens.
Now due to that festival they're short on time for the upcoming battle.

tl;dr if Musashi wasn't running around stealing DSAs England wouldn't be in a bind since they'd be able to trade normally and not lose on valuable time.

This has Q&A for every episode that should answer any questions you have.
>>
>>89871400
I am pretty sure they needed a full week to process it all, so their objective was to buy it basically a week out but pushed for a greater discount in order to try and drag Shiro down to a week, it backfired when Shiro called their bluff and you can see other peoples explanation on the amount of wastage that it would have resulted in.
>>
Not really, you just need to pay more attention to it unlike most anime these days.
Can't fault you for turning off your brain expecting everything to be laid down for you, most of us do that.
>>
They really should have kept the potato bit from the novels.

>you're telling me I have to pay attention to things other than tits?
>>
>>89871440
>>89871510
I see, if that's the case my questions still stand.

Further, do they need the meat for the battle, or for the aftermath of the battle? Or does it not matter?

>>89871592
>I guess buying it in the first week wouldn't be optimal then.

That's (one of) my point(s): England is not obliged to buy the meat during the first week. Why does the length of the festival matter then? England wins either way.
>>
>>89871761
Now now, there are actually those who want to understand.
>>
>>89871773
They need to feed both the soldiers and their citizens.
Consumption goes up during the festival, Musashi has a LOT of food, after the battle the meat would spoil.

During wars food supply drops.

England needed to buy the meat the first week because the fastest they could process it is a week working at full capacity so they have a secure food supply then those people have time to prepare for the war.
>>
>>89871856
That was arguably the most difficult part of the series to understand, did you have trouble understanding everything else?

The entire trading thing is basically a bluff
>>
>>89871856
That confuses me somewhat as well, I don't remember how him calling out Howard's bluff got him to backtrack to 11 days.

>Because Howard himself performed a DOGEZA in order to begin negotiations, and to keep his pride as an English merchant knowledgeable about the ultimate special move, DOGEZA, he must concede to Shiro’s DOGEZA.

It's one of the silly parts of the setting.
This settings takes its job classes VERY seriously.
>>
>>89872091
But England's plan was to buy the meat during the second week in the first place, wasn't it? If that's the case it's suitable to assume that they have the means to process it and prepare for the war in time.

>>89872116
>>89872136
Sorry, I worded that a little wrongly. I understand the argument, and how Shirojiro got 13 days in the end, but I don't see how that means that he won the negotiation.

To reiterate:
>That's (one of) my point(s): England is not obliged to buy the meat during the first week. Why does the length of the festival matter then? England wins either way.

Shojiro got to sell at the least possible discounting(maximized profit) because the festival length made the expiry date on the meat near irrelevant. Shorter festival would mean that food can possibly be wasted to spoilage so Shojiro would have to give a higher discount.
>>
>>89872136
Howard begged Musashi to sell them meat so when Shirojiro begged him to reconsider far better he was forced to return the favor by offering him more days but then Shirojiro called his bluff forcing him to give him more days under the premise that they wouldn't have to rush Shirojiro then says he didn't take days off into account then offers him a hostage to help sweeten the deal.

Also, the last part of ch02 of the 4koma anthology is a pain to redraw and I'm going to be busy in the near future, so that won't be out in a while.

I tend to stay away from Volks since the time I tried to buy from them with a proxy, they found out it was a proxy and took the money but I never got the figure, and got away with it because of their "We won't ship to proxies" rule. That was years ago, but still. And anyway, most figure makers will release their version of the characters steadily, so I,ll just have to wait for a good Horizon from, say, Alter or Koto.

And I tend to stay away of Buyfag threads, they tend to become a bit too repetitive on the long run.

England need to buy meats at the cheapest price and able to process all of that, it mean 8 days before the war. They need to buy 2000 ton at all not through out the festival, but they can only buy when the festival open since it's their excuse for trading with Musashi. England consume 2000 ton of meats in 2 weeks normally, and their excuse to Musashi was with the festival the consume rate will be double so they only need 8 days to consume all of the meats before it expire.

I don't think we've been given actual hard numbers on how much time any era encompasses (except FORTH, maybe), so I think that'd be hard to say without wild assumptions.
There's another era between AHEAD and GENESIS, EDGE, which doesn't have any media set in it yet.
The eras are defined by their properties and stages of human civilisation, so it wouldn't surprise me if some were drastically shorter than others. (I could imagine AHEAD being the shortest)

I think there's a link to a considerably long page on the subject in the FAQ of every Horizon general on 2ch, but that's obviously in Japanese so yeah.
