People like It's Not My Fault I'm Not Popular because they can relate. Tomoko is as big as or even worse a spaghetti monster than they are/used to be.

Almost every issue of the manga was a "yeah, I know that feel" to me.
It is depressing, yeah, but I find it pretty funny too. She's just so far gone.

You should stop thinking in Binary. She does not care about her own Image. She literally forces herself being an extroverted person while having a introverted personalily.

While nobody in school cares much about her, ignoring or being indifferent towards her as a result is only one part of the problem. That she cares about her own image is the result of extreme self-awareness that comes with the wish of becoming more popular or at least acknowledged towards her own peer.

She at the very least tried to approach her problems yet when someone did that first step to form a social contact she always seem to crumble afterwards, resulting in shivering, stuttering and crying just to name a few. This is one of the few parts where the irony of the manga stops working since this is actually a real issue and a complicated one at that.

There are a few parts in the manga where Tomoko had to cope with herself being full of shit, or so she thought. She can't stand herself being useless. Where do you think that bitter- and bitchyness comes from?

On another part in the manga she actually wished to find her own place. She is not fond on how the world works and tries to find her own way to cope with the given situation other then to adapt to anyone, or so she believes.

And to stay related on this topic, I disliked R;N, yet enjoyed bad shit like C;H more and can't understand the appeal of series like Dog Days and Saki. Furthermore I dislike series with shitloads or lolis or when the loli is the protag.

I am more fond of enjoying relaxing SOL series and manga.

I'm one of these socially awkward people always thinking about how I should act interact with others. It was bad in primary school and highschool felt so much better but I didn't make best friends, just people to hang out with. She took someone else's role almost exactly for no real reason.
Mio even did it better than her because she wasn't an annoying little snot.
I don't even like Mio that much, it's just that I felt nothing for the other characters and she's the only one I found even mildly entertaining.
Really though they all felt like background characters. They didn't have quite the same vibrant personalities as other SoL characters (Ichigo Mashimaro, Yuru Yuri, Azumanga Daioh, GJ-bu, etc)
If that means I have shit taste, that's too bad.

It's a sad day for anime fans worldwide when the new kids think 26 episodes is 'fairly long'.

The manga made me feel like shit. Reminds me too much of growing up and not understanding what it was I was doing wrong and why people disliked me. Maybe its a NTR type enjoyment that some people get from it but I personally don't.

I love Tomoko because she reminds me of a female version of me when I was in high school. Watching this show just makes me want to give her a hug, she makes me laugh a lot. Also those trademark baggy eyes.

As I remember, when the manga came out it wasn't even that popular but then all of a sudden 4chan and 2ch people started getting really into it, mostly because the character was practically a summary of what most socially awkward imageboard browsers were like.

In fact, I remember a bunch of people tweeting the mangaka to let her know how much they enjoyed the comic. She was surprised that so many people enjoyed it.

I don't think there's a pandering aspect to it at all, just a comic about a socially anxious girl.

It's how a lot of Mangaka try to shoehorn their way to popularity - instead of making a unique series and gaining a fanbase for its own merits, they instead pick a group of people and write for them instead.
