- I watched a clip of the ending scene of Shawshank Redemption on Nico and as soon as Red started reading the letter and it was apparent that this was a Japanese dubbed clip, the comments were basically 'dub orz'
- Also on Nico, I watched a clip of the prologue song of Les Miserables (which is suprisingly popular over there), an argument erupted mid video over how Jean Valjean's prisoner number was changed from 24601 to 24653 in the Japanese version of the musical. It was a proper MUH LYRICAL INTEGRITY vs MUH SONG FLOW debate not unlike the kind of thing you'd see on western forums.

We're really not so different. Groups within the Japanese find foreign things refreshing in the same way we find their shit refreshing. Of course the same debates crop up.
