Do this: Once every week, maybe sunday or something, set the amount of new cards to 0 and just do your reviews. When you're done, select the deck, click "custom study", then "Review forgotten cards" of the last 7 days.

This will let you repeat all the cards you did wrong over the last week without affecting your schedule.

This is my Kanji deck, Kanjidamage.
Half the cards have the character on the front and everything on the back. The other half of the cards has the keyword (in this case woman) and an input field on the front where you have to enter the character. Back is the same.

Just do whatever method is working for you, maybe concentrate a bit more and see how it turns out when you have more cards under your belt.

It's a lot faster just to do recognition. If you care a lot about writing, then do production. But if you think that practicing production will give you a significant boost to recognition, then you're wrong, and it would be better just to learn more words in the same amount of time.

That said, if you start confusing a certain pair of kanji or their readings, it could help to add production versions of words using those kanji.

Thanks, guys, I got it. I will reduce the number of new vocab to 10 and add a deck for manga I've been reading. I usually struggle with words that have really close meaning or just very abstract. Core2k also likes to throw words like "industry," "factory," "production," and "chairman," "director," "principal" in the same bunches so I confuse them. If you're going to study with JRPGs, you're going to need to know around 1000 kanji and 5000 words before you can make much sense of them.

Also, very old games (NES, Gameboy), are kana-only, so avoid them. Some PS1, GBA, and PSP games use lots of kanji, but they're low-res, so doing a radical lookup on an unfamiliar kanji is difficult.

I recommend PS2 games to start, since the 文字 are clear enough to do radical lookups.

The grammar makes sense if you make parallels to your own language grammar. Of course this means knowing your native grammar so get on that.

You can't use an object (person/thing that received an action) with intransitive verbs in English/Japanese because there's no action to be received.

That's why:
「anon was killed」 (transitive) is correct
「anon was died」 (intransitive) makes no sense

Likewise:
「あのんさんを殺した」　（transitive) is correct
「あのんさんを死んだ」　(intransitive) is incorrect
「あのんさんが死んだ」 (intransitive) is correct

I'm not 100% I'm correct with everything but that's how I understand it.
