I don't know. I went to my first con ever just last week and it was pretty cool. The panels weren't that bad. Well while some were pretty bad, some others were pretty fun. Rave was okay but I couldn't stay in time for REDALiCE, the main reason I was there. Shame. The floor was neat to see all those merchandise and anime and manga and stuff but I ended up not buying anything and just browsed. Cosplayers were fun to see too.

Going this weekend with 3 friends. I'm very shit with crowded places and if those three people I'm going with weren't there I'd probably want to kill myself afterward. When it comes to cons at least in Toronto, people actually try to have fun at Anime North (take that for what you will. There will always be those weaboos who love to embarrass themselves in public, and they're fucking annoying). The other one is Fan Expo, which gets worse and worse every year and everyone acts and takes everything way too seriously (a weekend pass for that is over $100 dollars, which is horse shit). You will always have those annoying weaboos, typical big three faggots/popular anime only fags, and those typically really bad panels. If you're going, go with someone you know, and be prepared to deal with some serious annoying shit at times, and mainly from the many diverse fanbases that will be present.

We didn't have any pony or yaoi panels (though there were one or two hetalia ones), but the person in charge of panels accidentally allowed a homestuck one to sign up. They trashed the room and now we have a general ban on homestuck panels or events.

Variety in panels/shops/merch/fans/cosplay/etc/everything is probably the biggest one. This is a far far reaching hobby and medium and to see more, much more than just the big 3 or madoka and eva is a really nice sight. Something for everyone kind of. Acen definitely had that and that's probably why despite being my first time ever at a con, I'm pretty stoked to go back next year.
