Anime studios make jackshit, except maybe SHAFT. Why do you think they charge shit loads for 2-3 episodes per BD? I wouldn't be surprised if studios only had a few million dollars on hand at any time. $250,000+ for one anime episode is better than what most studios are capable of spending on an episode.

I'll agree that Kickstarter is a scam when it comes to overly popular shit like movies/games/feminist-bullshit, and tends to promote half-assed lazy shit because they get funded so early. But anime has nothing when it comes to market cap, even in Japan. They need all the support they can get. I'm glad they made their goal posting and hope they get more in the future.
