I watched the episodes but it can only move the arms up and down and nothing more. Don't get me wrong, it's 100 times better than that shitty dinosaur robot that they tried to start before, but it's still fucking shitty and could never realistically be used.
To pivot whatever it's holding you'd have to turn the entire body.

This episode destroyed me. I always liked Mizuka as I always had a thing for Onee-san characters. But more then that, she was really adorable in every scene she was in. I dunno, now I just feel ... empty as I know that R;N will be a bit less enjoyable without her.

Glasses-kun will somehow make it out alive I guess. There is still a chance that the robot missed it.
>>
>>79819080
It would just walk over him rather that trip. Also, making her fall on her back was the best course of action since it wasn't really supposed to be able to make her stand up from that position, not without breaking her back.
>>
>>79819167

True that. No matter what he would have tried, they result would much likely be the same, just her spin breaking in a different angle. She should have tried to get out of her exoskeleton but then again this would have probably took some time to do.

>>
Why didn't he just turn her in another direction, and then keep her going to town, until there was a solution to the problem? Like just turn her body in another direction, while she's got one foot up in the air. I mean there wasn't any ill intent from anyone behind this incedent. It just happened at a stupid time and place. Right?
>>
>>79819666
It was a message to Kai.
>>
>>79819446
So watching C;H and S;G is a must to enjoy this?
>>
>>79819666

No it didn't. It was intended I believe. If he would have turned her around she would just turn around again and keep walking towards the cliff.
>>
>>79819666
Well it went exactly to that small open area at the edge of the cliff. It was most likely intended to move that way re-using the same path that caused the earlier incident (the warning tape) with a previous leg-gear model.
Guess who died there before, 9 years ago
>>
>>79819744

Not really. It's a stand alone product.

If you wanted to get involved in the universe, I'd recommend you read Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate. The anime adaptations leave a lot out (especially the Chaos;Head adaptation)

Same with Steins;Gate - references to Chaos;Head, but doesn't actually influence the story.

>>
>>79819620
This thing is though as fuck, able to break Misaki's spine, and walking toward that freaking gap.
He would have just made her suffer more before dying, there is no way he would be able to break it in time, and even with one leg off the bloody thing would keep on advancing.

The best solution would have been to cut off the wires, but didn't have anything on hand to do that.

Are people still going on about "I would have done X in his situation"?
No you wouldn't have, the thing would get up no matter what angle you threw her down at, it's attached to her spine and waist.
Then you also need to consider that this whole thing happened in about the span of a minute, and the human brain does not work well under stress and time constraint.
>>
>>79820226
I think the same but it would have been fun if he had hold her in his arms and carried her away from that place.

>>
Along with the hand scene in Chaos;Head, this is one of those "holy shit, no!" moments.

Steins;Gate didn't really have any of those. When Mayuri died, I just said "Oh" and carried on reading.
>>
Here’s the thing, Mizuka death was 100% AVOIDABLE. How can I explain this? With some simple Physics.

First off, the fall was NOT survivable. Using a stop watch, her fall time was approximately 3.6 seconds (High-end value). In fact, it’s slightly shorter. Using the equation y= Vint. ( t ) + 1/2at^2, where Vint is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration (i.e. gravity: 9.8 m/s^2) and t is time (3.6s). I was able to calculate the height of the cliff to be around 64 meters (209ft). Definitely not survivable.

I was as well able to calculate her velocity at impact, which came out to be around 35 m/s. With these factors in mind, I wanted to take a closer look at the forces involved.

Upon impact, Mizuka’s exoskeleton, which supports her legs we destroyed. If we assume that Mizuka fits the criteria of a average Japanese woman (100 lbs) we can calculate her force upon impact. I calculated this to be around 28200 Newtons (or 6346.1 lbs of force). Now with this in mind, we can safely assume that it takes a force of 6346.1 pounds or less to destroy any section of the exoskeleton.

Now, here is what Kai-kun could have done. Looking at the exoskeleton, the knee joints are most likely one of the most weakest sections of the robotic device. This means that a force less than 6346.1 lbs is needed to break the knee joint. We can also assume that the ring around the joint is about 3 inches in diameter, giving it an area of about 7.065 square inches.
>>
>>79820399
An average fighter can deliver a kick between 1800 and 2000 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch). If Kaito were to get a running start from about 2 meters away, he could mostly likely delivery a kick of about 900PSI if not more, depending on how fast he runs, and how much mass he has. That being said, if he were to deliver a running kick to the weak knee joint, we can most likely say that the joint can be easily fractured. Since for every square inch, a force of over 900PSI is being delivered, which would add up to equal over 6300 pounds of force.

By breaking the knee joint of the exoskeleton, the robot would lose all mobility and be incapable of walking. Mizuka’s actual knee joint may suffer damage as well, but 1, she’s handicapped to begin with and 2, better a broken leg than being dead.

So in conclusion,
if Kai were to have run from his observing position and land a kick on Mizuka’s exoskeleton knee joint, her death would have been completely avoided.

Would have never existed. But leave it to the screen writers to fuck up another series with confounding logic.
And obviously, the exoskeleton was not 3 laws safe…

What Kai did was ok, writers just ignored physics here and the fact that legs should have been anchored to ground for this to happen. Instead they just used power of plot twist.
>>
Why didn't Gunvarrel save her?
>>
>>79820545
How exactly did they ignore physics in that scene?
The robot legs picked themselves back up, they're clearly powerful as they're meant for supporting the entire lower body.
Hell, the reason her spine broke was because of physics.

>>
>>79812156
why the fuck did they make it strong enough to break a fucking spine?
why didn't anybody design a emergency switch in case it went Terminator on it's wearer?
>>
>>79820893
Because then we wouldnt have gotten that scene or her death for that matter
>>
He should have just taken her by the hands and dragged her backwards. If he holds her up (or has her hold onto his shoulders/wrap her arms around his neck), it'd be at a 45°ish angle and wouldn't be able to get any decent grip with the ground, which was grass.

Though the way it just stood up when she was on the floor was bullshit. Did it launch a three foot rod into the ground out of its feet for support or something? It would fall over.

Really any mechanical device that is a) attached to the human body and b) is as strong as that thing apparently was, would surely have an emergency shut off. Also, as slowly as it was walking, could they not just get her out of it? I mean it's not like she wears it permanently, she's gotta bathe and sleep, and she doesn't seem to need a helper of any sort, so it must be simple to get in and out of.

The whole thing just broke through some kind of stupidity barrier for me. It was stupid when he just stood there for so long watching, and then it was stupid when he couldn't actually stop it. Hell, it was stupid when it responded to a dial-up noise coming out of her phone. What? It has a microphone? What? It understands dial-up?

And then there's the giant robot that's walking around completely free standing on its first test. Who would do that? And then, hey, since it walked so well, let's walk it out into these gale force winds. Nothing can go wrong!

Firing a laser beam into a radio dish antenna? What? The dish didn't even look reflective.
