I NEED YOUR HELP /a/.

I recently rediscovered an old collection of oyasumi "welcome to the nhk" hidden in the depths of my computer. I tried to copy them across to an external hard drive but one episode wouldn't copy over. The computer ended up crashing. Whenever I now try to play it, it runs fine until the ED where it crashes my computer, or if I try to move the file the computer crashes. WTF is going on???
>>
You're going to need to re-download that episode.

And a new HDD.

Probably some kind of corrupt file? A virus maybe even?
Dont wanna scare you though, and I dont believe it's anything serious like that.
>>
Yeah, it's just the 23rd episode and only when it gets to around the ED. They were all fine when I first downloaded them around 2 years ago. I've been trying to look for the same oyasumi release but I'm on university internet, with filters on torrents. All the post-megaupload DDL sites aren't blocked though, but I can't find that shit anywhere.

I never found a good torrents for a nice HDD.
>>
If anyone knows if there are any DDL sites (except rapidshit, 4shared and mediafire) with

>[Oyasumi]_Welcome_to_the_NHK!_23_[615BBC06].mkv

I would be eternally grateful

You tried looking on 4shared?
>>
>>74780580

Blocked for me......

If the episode is old, the rotational velocidensity may have deteriorated the part of your hard drive that stores that file.

Also, the whole series is available on /jp/'s FTP.
>>
Run check disk. I couldn't even open my Yu Yu Hakusho folder on my harddrive for a long time, it would freeze the computer. Ran check disk and had it fix the errors, now it all works fine.
>>
>>74780688

You fucking legend!!!!!

Thanks
>>
>>74780892

I'm downloading it again from /jp/'s FTP. If it fucks up again then I'll know it's something with my computer.
>>
>>74779868 (OP)
This happened to me too.

One particular episode Kuragehime absolutely will not be transferred. I have no idea what the fuck is up.
>>
>>74780688
>rotational velociraptors

Yeah and then there's vampires and them other stuffs too. This is the dumbest urban legend ever, allmost dumber than the whole "mp3 degrade when unpacked" legend

I've got that file. Do you use IRC? I could DCC it to you.
>>
>>74781092

I got it off /jp/'s FTP. Thanks anyway, and yeah it was the old file that was the problem. The one I just downloaded plays fine. 2 hours of my computer fucking up because of that shit. It's weird I've NEVER had that problem before with the 100's of episodes I've got stored.
>>
>>74781270
You should run a scandisk on that drive and have it flag the bad sectors.
>>
>>74781373

Disk defragmenter?
>>
>>74781479
Don't defrag it if it suffers from rotational velocidensity. If you have a soldering iron, use it on the motherboard to fix your drive first.

>My Computer

That's what fixed mine, anyway.
>>

Thanks, I've got scheduled for the next time I start up.
>>
>>74781030

If it was playing alright but couldn't be transferred it might be the problem with when you've got divx installed. I had that problem where I couldn't move my mkv files, so I uninstalled divx and the problem was solved.

Computer science major here.

>>74781030
The problem isn't with the video or audio data inside the matroska file. Since you can't copy or move the file, there is a problem with the underlying file system or hard drive. This might be data corruption, or it might be hardware failure.

In either case, backup all your important data, run a file system check, and a badblocks/sector checks. I don't really remember how this is done in Windows 7 but it's not difficult.

When you know the HDD is safe, go ahead and redownload the episode.

Also, >>>/g/ for your own good.

>>74780688
Most likely bullshit. Provide source.

>>74781055
Using (encoding and decoding) MP3 does degrades sound quality. Packing an MP3 inside a compressed archive (zip, rar, 7zip, gzip, bzip) and upacking the archive does not affect sound quality at all, since compression tools for generic files are always lossless.
