I dunno if I'd call them realistic, but typically the heroine in a shoujo show wins the guys over by "being true to herself" (blunt/honest, dumb/well-intended, or whatever combo of thing-she-thinks-is-bad-about-herself/thing-other-people-like-about-her).

In harems the MC sometimes has this sort of thing (except it's more like thing-other-people-don't-like-about-him/thing-they-don't-realize-about-him-that-makes-him-awesome), but sometimes not. Some harems are more about just presenting the girls, and others are more about presenting something that makes the viewer feel better about himself. In shoujo I'd say it's almost always the latter and less about the former, at least on average.
