Recommendation charts are generally worthless due to the arbitrary nature and selection of them. There's very little variety on this chart and it doesn't help the average newcomer with much of anything since their tastes aren't going to necessarily align with the person who made the chart. And "quality awareness" is probably the most stupid thing on that entire image, especially considering how many other critically acclaimed and influential series are missing from this. Where is Macross? Cardcaptor Sakura? Utena? GTO? Nodame Cantabile? Gunbuster? I'm sure those are much more representative of the classics and what anime has to offer.

I've never understood why Berserk and Claymore were on there. Especially Berserk, I would never recommend that anime to anyone because the manga is just so much better. And Read or Die as well, that anime was fucking awful. I think think of numerous anime that would fit better. Utena for example, call it overrated as much as you want, if Eva's good enough then so is Utena. Princess Tutu's pretty cool too.Actually yeah, where's all the shoujo?
