If soy, yeah, Fate's boring. It's job is to basically tell you a lot about the world and the situation you're in, and there's a lot of that to do. UBW and Heaven's Feel are much better because the entire "explaining how the world works" thing is out of the way and it can focus on the actual story with some really interesting conflicts.

The overly complicated d&d inspired magic system is mostly there just to satisfy power level fags. I mostly enjoy Nasu stuff because of the characters and how batshit insane the stories get and the fact that Nasu is a good horror writer when he wants to (see Tsukihime, HF and many of the bad ends in Fate)

Because she was only ever let out of the house to go to school or to see Shirou, and while she was at school she was being watched so she didn't get out of line. She was pretty much told not to make friends or get that close to people, don't tell people about dick worms, and don't talk to Rin.

Shirou was pretty much her only outlet for the last decade or so.

Not to mention all the torture and dick worms she had to deal with on a daily basis, Zouken tired to kill her almost daily as well to try to break down her soul even further to the point that she developed near spider sense for people trying to kill her.
