This place has always been a shithole... but got progressively worse from winter 2008 onward.

2009 was probably the worst year on /a/ in terms of post content. You had wikispam, porn-spam, Big3 wars, gore-spam, GIRUGAMESH, Lanced Jack, Nigba, Taiga, it goes on and on.

Believe it or not, there used to only be 10 pages... and you didn't have to type a fucking Captcha just to post... cause most people had enough sense to follow board etiquette to an extent.

You still had faggots, but they weren't as common.

One glaring example is it didn't used to be normal to discuss things like Naruto and Bleach here. There were the occasional One Piece threads... but even they were looked down upon. Nowadays you can even find more than one Naruto thread in the first 5 pages.

Today's /a/ also has much more moderation... and has a very "normal-fag" friendly atmosphere compared to the past. I think I've even seen links to /a/ on Youtube.

This Summer will officially make /a/ - /b/ 3.0.

This year, I think I will actively pay attention to the quality of /a/ during summer and document it. I usually just ignore the shit and only go to threads I like, but this will be interesting. All I remember about last summer were the Tiger and Bunny preorder threads, and the occasional Uta Pri thread.

As I've said time and time again this summer is the make it or break it point. We started off really rough this year and it doesn't seem to be getting better.
What has really made me anal devastated is the rec threads and sauce threads that get legitimate replies. Hell there is even a tripfag named spoonfeeder. They say they give sauce because they like to see the butthurt (which is technically working) but it still makes things worse.

Oh god, dark times. I don't know what inspired moot to hire that bitch, but for a little while after the infamous "loli" post, I thought /a/ was dead.

A few people have touched on this, but /a/ has pretty much had an endless summer since 2009. Though the board is able to recover somewhat during September, it never quite gets back to the old level of quality, and then it just gets worse again come May. This year I have no recourse, my backlog will be clear by the end of June and I have no idea what I should do after that. May try beating Wind Waker again.
