    Why is Funimations dub of One Piece not popular in America? Why did Toonami remove it from its schedule when their dub had record ratings the few months it was on. Hell, why the fuck is One Piece not popular in America? When Toonami comes back next year they better have Funi's dub of One Piece on it so it can get the love it deserves.

    4Kids had One Piece for a longer period and was on their network. DB was on at like 6:30 in the morning and didn't really promote it at all. FUNi took it and put it on Toonami where people would actually watch the thing.

    Because honestly the concept just isn't interesting enough for American audiences. We tend to pretty much hate anything with pirates unless it has Johnny Depp. Hell pretty much every pirate movie or show ever released in America has been an enormous flop. It's not just 4kids (although they did contribute) but the concept just isn't appealing to mainstream western audiences

    Knowing a lot of dubutards in my area one of the major criticisms for One Piece wasn't the plot, or the characters. But it was the art style. For some reason a lot of Americans just didn't like the art style and how it looked. And it's not just my area as if you look online there are a bunch of people who have beefs with it for some reason.
