Here's the plan. First, you will have to buy a piece of intellectual property: The Amber Series by Roger Zelazny. The author has been dead for over twenty years and it doesn't have a large fanbase, so this shouldn't be an issue. Then make it an anime.
Let me give you a brief synopsis of the Amber series. It follows Corwin, one of a family of immortals who come from the one true world (Amber), and can travel throughout all other worlds (known as shadows) freely. The story starts with an amnesiac Corwin who regains his memories and then begins a campaign to take Amber back from his older brother, gathering an army in shadow worlds to attack the one true reality. However, things do not go according to plan, and there are intrigues at work even deeper than the political struggles of the Amberites...
(Amber, the universal center of order, has a parallel in Chaos, which seeks to destroy Shadow and create universal entropy.)
Why this would make a great anime:
Ensemble cast with strong characterization (the whole family includes 13 people, who range from Random, the carefree brother who hates politics and just wants to enjoy his godlike powers, to Benedict, a man who has spent thousands of years perfecting the art of war across hundreds of different worlds)
The author is dead, so you can warp it to fit marketing sensibilities as you please.
It mixes medieval and modern sensibilities because of all of the infinite shadow universes, technology only works in some of them.
It is one of the best fantasy plots of all time, and you could buy it for a pittance.

It's essential to have characters the audience can get emotionally attached to, with personalities that aren't simply generic stereotypes, well thought out character designs, and well-written (not committee-manufactured) stories that let them develop. Good voice acting is absolutely critical. It doesn't hurt to have cute animals with personalities of their own. The precure fairies stand out beyond merely being messengers of magic, stuffed Kyubeys are popular, Poyopoyo and Chii (Chii's sweet home) are very likeable, and of course, there's that cat /a/ is always posting, you know the one.
