I assume you think it's odd that in a world with robot like dolls that people would still use gas stoves.

I see it as no different to Cowboy Bebop that despite space travel on the surface of planets they still use cars for transport.
    >> Anonymous 04/07/12(Sat)10:18 No.63896589

    As opposed to what? Aircrafts?
Cars are far less expensive and much safer. In a planet where the population was low enough so that it wasn't 100% urban, Cars would be the way to go.

    I watched this recently.
I cried bitch tears after watching all the BD specials and so on. I mean seriously, I have never cried to a work of fiction before. And there I was, tears streaming down my face as he holds up the music box at the end
I saw the ending coming, but something just really hurt me, the man living alone, for nothing, finding meaning by taking in a little girl I guess.

    self-driving one-person vehicles as a service.

You call one with your smartphone and it'll arrive from the depot, get you where you want and return to the depot or drive to the next customer.

Efficient, fast, saves loads of urban space, safer because humans don't drive and adaptive as you can order the type of car you need (N-seater, cargo, long-range, ...). And it makes it way more efficient to use trains since you can just do car -> train -> car without worrying about renting or parking them.

There is one problem: people think cars are supposed to be owned by them. Many use cars as status symbols. Same shit with the USA: they'd rather drive SUVs than energy friendly, small cars.

That will hopefully change when the cost per kilometer is significantly lower than paying insurance, repairs, parking space, gas, taxes and so on.

Especially when cities start to charge premium on parking lots. Oh... and think about all that garage space you could use for other things.

    They tend to do well when they're part of a harem;
D from Parallel Trouble Adventure Dual
    Chachamaru in Negima
    Korone from Ichiban Ushirono Daimaou

Whenever a robot girl becomes the central love interest the writers invariably decide to make it sad and tragic.

Older model. Discontinued. No service parts available. Previous owner is a mystery. Was left in a trash heap.

It's like finding an old IBM computer in the trash. If you can get it working again, you can't do much with it besides access what's already on disc. And due to age and neglect, it probably wouldn't run for very long anyways.
