    Hey /a/

I was online the other night (when it became April Fool's Day) and Adult Swim played Toonami

everyone seemed really happy and all, but I didn't really understand. I mean, I don't see how it's better than the current way Cartoon Network shows cartoons. it looks like it's some old fashioned 3D that maybe impressed people 30 years ago, but it doesn't really impress me.

IMO everyone yelling for Toonami to come back, that's not what kids want, it's just what old nostalgia people want, so you're going to kick and scream until they bring Toonami back? and then no kids will like it, you guys will watch it for a few days then say "OK WE WIN SHOW'S OVER" and stop watching Toonami. because really nobody wants to watch that. I mean, the video game review was ok, but I just don't get the hype. I'm 13 and I don't even remember Toonami being on.

Feel free to explain why it's so awesome

I don't browse /b/ or /v/. I've been browsing /a/ for years. the only other boards I go to is /fa/ and /an/. this was not meant to be a troll post, so I'm sorry if it came across that way. I just want older anon to explain why I should want Toonami.

I did not find the April Fools Day showing to be very good, but it was also a giant troll, and they showed a bunch of final spoiler episodes, and a Mass Effect 3 rating, so the whole thing was a joke.

what will Tonnami actually be like? more DBZ reruns?

I think people want Toonami back because it was the thing that got a lot of them into anime in the first place.

The sad reality is that if Toonami was brought back, it would probably consist of old reruns everyone here has seen and younger generations wouldn't want to watch anyway (try getting today's 10 year old to watch Gundam Wing).

Now if Toonami was brought back and revamped with more modern shows it may have a chance to appeal to people once more.

    This.
You're pretty dumb if you think Toonami would survive on reruns alone, it'll die in 1-2 months.
Now that it's part of the AS block, they can now show TV14-MA anime which opens a lot slots for good anime that this new generation can enjoy.

See, what's wrong with this, is that whoever put it together clearly didn't watch the April Fools Toonami. It had really good shit, and TOM3. It was like watching Toonami BEFORE it went to shit. And considering how it'd more than likely be put on Adult Swim every Saturday night, the picture on the left would be the one more likely to happen.

But yes, this Toonami shit really needs to stop, I want to talk about anime & manga, not a fucking programming block on a channel I don't even get in my country.

The thing is Toonami is a magnet for idiots who don't even know how to discuss something properly nor did they watch a lot of series to have a better taste. Why is it considered crap? Because of most of its series are entry level shit. Sure I wouldn't care if it this was one thread with normal posts and spelling but most you read written by Tooanmifags is::"Goku is uber manly i am going to fire my kamehameha xD" Having more Toonami shit threads here lures those kind of people who know about 4chan because of "funny images and jokes" and they usually ignore global rule about being underage. Do you see /a/ and /jp/ sprouting millions of Tooonami threads? No. Why? Because they think its a silly programming block for children. It's stupid, it's full of entry level shit, it's littered with characters that are just plain HORRIBLE, the fanbase is on par with the twilight and avatar one, atrocious normalfags who watch the stuff only to see which guy will the protagonist that is irrefutably alpha fuck first, extremely undeveloped characters and a utterly ridiculous everyday depiction, actually, 98% of characters rely on grunts because the writer can't write above anything what a caveman with a club lodged up his prehistoric anus could. Also did i mention it's very childish, thus attracting underages and manchildren, mouthbreathers and faggots? It also it attracts ADHD children, which, no matter how much your mother told you to respect the sick, are not wanted on /a/ and should just die off like the waste of resources they are.

MOTHERFUCKING SHIT. I WAS JUST MASTURBATING AND EVERYTHING WAS GOING GREAT. I WAS IN MY

ROOM, I HAD MY HEADPHONES ON, I WAS

TOTALLY NAKED SITTING AT MY COMPUTER FAPPING AWAY TO A VIDEO ON REDTUBE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE'S THIS REALLY SHARP PAIN IN MY

DICK, LIKE IT JUST GOT STABBED WITH A SEWING NEEDLE. I JERKED MY HAND BACK AND IT BUMPED INTO MY COMPUTER TOWER, WHICH SITS

ON THE DESK. WELL, I HAD MY STICK OF DEODORANT ON TOP OF THE TOWER, AND THAT BITCH FELL OFF AND LANDED DEODORANT-END-DOWN ON

THE HEAD OF MY COCK. HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID THAT HURT, AND ON TOP OF THAT IT HIT SO HARD THAT IT

    ACTUALLY FORCED SOME

DEODORANT INTO MY URETHRA. I'VE NEVER HAD ANYTHING BURN SO BAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I JUMPED

OUT OF MY FUCKING CHAIR AND STOOD

UP BECAUSE IT HURT SO BAD; THIS CAUSED MY HEADPHONE CABLE TO GET YANKED OUT OF MY

SPEAKERS, WHICH CAUSED "OH YEAH BABY COME

DEEP IN MY TIGHT TEEN ASSHOLE UH UH UH" TO GET BLARED THROUGH MY FUCKING HOUSE AND ALMOST

MAXIMUM VOLUME. NOW MY EYES ARE

WATERING FROM THE PAIN OF THE DEODORANT INSIDE MY COCK BUT I MANAGE TO PUNCH ONE OF MY

SPEAKERS HARD ENOUGH SO THEY TURN OFF.

I LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED BLOOD DRIPPING OFF OF MY COCK; I GUESS THE LIP OF THE PLASTIC

DEODORANT THING BIT INTO MY FORESKIN

AS IT CONNECTED WITH MY COCK. THE BLOOD WAS DRIPPING DOWN MY LEG.

THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE SPACE OF MAYBE 6 SECONDS. IT MAY SEEM BAD BUT IT GETS WORSE. JUST

AS I'M STANDING THERE TRYING TO

FIGURE OUT WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED, MY BEDROOM DOOR FUCKING OPENS. MY DAD WAS STANDING

THERE WITH MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER TO

JOHNS HOPKINS. I FROZE AND HE STARED AT ME, NAKED WITH MY BLOODY ERECTION FOR MAYBE 15

SECONDS BEFORE HE NOTICED MY COMPUTER

MONITOR AND THE BRUTAL ANAL SEX SCENE GOING ON FULL-SCREEN. HE IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE

DOOR AND LEFT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING.

    >OP here, it looks like not all of /a/ likes Toonami like I thought. On April Fool's Day, Toonami permanetly ALL over page 1, and a bunch of Toonami threads getting hundreds of replies,so I thought you guys must really love it

Oh we liked it for that 1 day. Just that it brought a bunch of faggots like you along with it that only want to create a bebop thread with the same heading "remember when the 6 anime programs I watched on a block were the pinnacle of japanimation?"

It's funny none of those faggots talk about Legend of the Galatic heroes if the want their "manime" but they never heard of it cause it wasn't on fucking TV.

That wasn't even /a/, those were people from /v/ or casuals that don't frequent /a/.

Toonami is as irrelevant to us as buying dubbed DVDs.

    >yeah right, a show about incest on cartoon network.
    that will go over well.

The common occuring theme is "misinterpreted incest" but yeah I'd agree that is just retarded to think it was TV appropriate at all.

AS consists of nothing but middle aged men acting like idiots and black guys yelling the word 'Cheese' over and over right now.

Your average person isn't even going to pick up on the incest themes, yes they are that stupid before you say anything.

I want Toonami back because it could possibly increase Western exposure to anime, and thus help out the market.

This could still happen if AS would just start putting on more and better anime, but all they play is stoner shit anyway.

I don't know what it was but the other day I turned on AS and there was a show on that was still images. Just still images with a voiceover. That's fucking sad.

And yeah I don't want them to play the same stuff. I don't mind if they use the old CG because that's pretty nostalgic and I love TOM, but I think most of us that are defending it would want them to play new shows.

You mean back to a daily weekday afternoon slot, right? If this only remains a Saturday night affair, nothing changes aside from some programming choices. Adult Swim doesn't have the ability to force CN to have an anime block at 4-6PM. And if they do, that's a ton of power.

Depends on your service. It's included in some upper packages on U-Verse and Comcast, but so is the NFL Network, and that's way more vital than the FUNi channel.

The only way for an anime to have an effect over the industry is to have Big 3 levels of popularity. Fuck, not even FMA that was a fucking huge hit didn't awarded that much cash to the japanese dudes.

    This

It isn't in your standard programming package, you have to request it specifically or have one of a very few providers that provide it.

So who else is sick of the newfag agenda lately? I don't know where the fuck they came up with this but they've been spamming /a/ with newfag shit and spamming /jp/ redirects at anyone who calls them out on their garbage.

This board needs to be nuked by a mod for like, a week straight. However much it takes to make things cool off a bit around here.

Most of that money will go to the publishing/dubbing companies though.
Everything is better off through imports, both official and non official.

The folks wanting Toonami back want it back with all the shows it used to air, so they pretty much want the same thing Adult Swim's been doing with airing Bebop and GitS nonstop over and over again for years that people complain about. Even if it came back with new shows, it'd all be stuff we'd already seen years ago.

We love Toonami because it was something great from our childhood that's no longer around, and it was great because we watched it when we first started into anime, and the other night was great because it reminded us of that great time from our childhood, but if it came back, the nostalgia would quickly wear off and, to us, it would just be a localized anime block. If the 10-15 year olds want it back, let them have it, because they're who the block was intended for when it ran, but the 10-15 year olds of a decade ago are now the ones watching Adult Swim at 2am, so that's when they aired the reboot, so no current 10-15s saw it.

Should [AS] increase how much anime they air back to the levels they did in the early-to-mid 00s? Maybe, it served as a transition for a lot of kids-turned-teenagers who grew up on Toonami from being Toonami fans to actually being anime fans and moving on to downloading fansubs, but teenagers are also obnoxious. Should CN start up a new, non-Toonami action cartoons block during the day that serves the same purpose Toonami once did? Aw hell yea. But the only purpose to bringing back Toonami would be for the adults who grew up on it to nostalgia over, which could only be maintained for a few weeks at most before, at best, dissolving that nostalgia, or at worst, leading everyone to hate the wonderful thing they used to love.

That's why I said maybe, with higher price there would be also higher money going to the original makers but it still wouldn't be nearly enough to make them even think about the west as a potential market.

The idea of toonami was to bring anime into the mix of cartoons. It also set a bar for the quality of western cartoons they would play (ie Thunder cats, and Samurai Jack).
They are in need of quality cartoon programming. They are really suffering now that they have reality shows and have to play old school stuff on Fridays. I like seeing Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, etc., but they need some new stuff.
If they revamped toonami with new shows, they could garner the attention of children while increasing the quality of their programming.
This would also get the kids away from naruto and bleach. Give them some good stuff.

The thing is. The concept of Nostalgia is one of the biggest driving forces for Toonami. THAT'S why it was airred replacing Adult Swim.
That's why, if it does return, it'll most likely replace Adult Swim's saturday night block.
Even if you're actually a 13 year old kid and not a horrible troll, it doesn't matter because it wouldn't be marketed towards you anyway.
