The japanese NERV branch has like no power any more. In the TV-series they were pretty much the aces in the deck. Now they are just a few high cards at best.

NERV in japan now can't even control how many EVA's they have, and the other bases now exists for themselves too instead of just developing and reseearching for the japanese NERV branch.

The commander has also been demoted to hell and back, Gendo is now even denied access to other NERV facilities, and Ritsuko is being denied information about the S2 engines.

If you were going to create a weapon of war, and you had the means and technology to create the materials to create a TSF, and you had found Adam lying around somewhere and you had the technology to clone him and control the clones.

Yep. The UN isn't a nation in itself, it's just a collection of nations. When they send soldiers on peacekeeping missions and/or to rape the local populace, those aren't UN soldiers. They are soldiers from a UN member country, and that country has agreed to support the proposed mission. They're not UN soldiers, they're Americans, Canadians, Brits, French, Germans, etc, except they're wearing blue hats. That is the only difference.

A common problem with UN missions is that the soldiers sent don't give a fuck about the UN mission, but rather are in it for the bonus UN allowance pay. The real mission, to those soldiers, is to collect money and not die, because this is not a mission given to them by their glorious fatherland.

Any soldiers that join an independent UN force can't be completely trustworthy, because they would likely have been sent to the UN by their home country with the understanding that they are loyal to their home country first, and the UN second.
