The UN isn't a nation in itself, it's just a collection of nations.
When they send soldiers on peacekeeping missions and/or to rape the
local populace, those aren't UN soldiers. They are soldiers from a UN
member country, and that country has agreed to support the proposed
mission. They're not UN soldiers, they're Americans, Canadians, Brits,
French, Germans, etc, except they're wearing blue hats. That is the only
difference. A common problem with UN missions is that the
soldiers sent don't give a fuck about the UN mission, but rather are in
it for the bonus UN allowance pay. The real mission, to those soldiers,
is to collect money and not die, because this is not a mission given to
them by their glorious fatherland. Any soldiers that join an
independent UN force can't be completely trustworthy, because they would
likely have been sent to the UN by their home country with the
understanding that they are loyal to their home country first, and the
UN second.
