    It's an average anime. It had some QUALITY scenes but it wasn't something that was horrible.

    /a/ doesn't like it because it was a piss poor adaption when it came to some things. For example the music was watered down, the battles were shadows of the original and the troll faces weren't awesome.

    You know what you should do? Read the manga while listening to the soundtrack.

    Saw the anime first, disliked it greatly, I was all "Higurashi was better, fuck this".
    Then I read the VN. This series literally skyrocketed to what's very possibly my favorite franchise of all time.

    Yes, the anime is bad. It's very bad. Terrible animation, meh voice work, and a rape of the pace and plot. Don't bother unless you've already read the VN.
