Ain't easy being Ibrahimovic; settle El Clasico 1-0 and scoring 12 goals despite having an ongoing conflict with Pep Guardiola and being sidelined for most of the second half of the season. Class player, pretty big ego (but he's shown in Swedish media to actually be pretty humble aboust most things, and he is a team player; he just didn't mesh well with Barca and especially Pep Guardiola's style).

But yeah, asking if one of the most well-paid and famous football players in the world, who had a 65 million dollar transfer to Barcelona, and has won several Scudetto is famous outside of his native country is pretty silly.

1.) That was always Spain's national theme
2.) More like 90% Barça and maybe 2-3 Real Madrid players nowadays (with a few from the English league)
3.) Just because a league is good it doesn't mean the national theme is good. Spain right now owes more to Cruyff and the League of the Netherlands than to its own football tradition.

Don't get me wrong, IMHO Spain, Germany and Netherlands are the strongest teams right now and any of them deserved the last World Cup (well, ok, Netherlands not so much given how they went to chaotic evil on the final match instead of doing their regular playing style but they still are a strong as fuck team)

Attack no.1 is set in post-war Japan where the adults were still brought up during the Taisho (Imperialist Japan) and they consider their children have to be absolutely loyal to them while excelling at everything.
SHAMEFUR DISPRAY is still serious business and has consequences for the kids who are growing up without the pressure of SERVING THE EMPEROR but still are expected to excel at everything.

Are YOU actually helping the community yourself? Nope? Don't complain then.

Not that I disagree with your assessment of the community, it's just that it's the same with every language. Yes, even English and Japanese, try going outside of /a/ and you'll see how amerifat fans are not much better (it's just that our yaoi fujoshis are more active and willing to shell out money while german male fans almost never shell out money and generally are not as shameless as the female ones)

FIFA is controlled by corrupt and conservative bureaucrats that don't deserve any kind of respect, and I'm a spaniard who loves football but I hate that old twat of Blatter, really he is the one that make people believe that football is not the same sport that was in the 20th century, it's actually much worse now.

For me Australia deserved much more to hold the 2022 WC than Qatar.

Nope, I was sad sure but Rio de Janeiro deserved even with all the violence I know how the things are there and they are commited to really make everything work, Qatar is a great country too no doubt about it but it's stupid islamic-based laws will end up fucking everything. Now they have to explain why you will not be able to drink beer or any alcoholic beverage in the games or even worse, why gay people will have to hide themselves and not going to the games because it's fucking illegal being homosexual there.
It's like they want to make a major sport event in a country with laws from medieval times.

I have nothing against muslims or anything, but a major sport event should be made in countries that are prepared to receive EVERYBODY.

Oh, that is true, my point is rather is that all these organizations are corrupt as fuck.

Of course Qatar didn't deserve it (neither did Russia IMHO) it's just that they had enough spare cash to outplay their caucasian competitors who were offering marketing contracts that Blatter would never see a dime off by the time they actually were in effect

Is that so different from USA?
You can't carry around alcoholic beverages when you're under 21 or when it's liquor (or something stupid like this). You have to hide if you belong to certain sexual minorities, like being an ephebophile.

The Arab World kinda deserved a WC considering how much football is popular over there, the problem is that muslim based laws are really a pain in the ass for the ones who want to appreciate a good football match on the same way they do in any other western or not muslim oriented country.

The UAE would be a better choice to host a WC than Qatar since they have more relaxed laws about this issues involving homosexuals and alcohol for foreigners than Qatar, but since they didn't make a bid for the tournament we now have to deal with it.
We also have to consider that is almost right that Blatter and the rest of the FIFA commite were bribed.

Basically, Baseball is extremely popular in South East Asia in general.
Probably because it's the one professional sport that is the most about the team while individual talents are only strong on relative terms.
A good forward or a good goalkeeper in football can save your team on his own, a good quarterback in American Football or a star player in basketball will do wonders to get you out of a slump.

A good pitcher or a pinch batter can help you excel but they cannot save an aweful team from ending up dead last.
And South East Asian cultures dig that philosophy of "the team/society is more important than the individual talent". It puts all the strong points and all the weak points into a common pot so they can share the blame if they lose (even if they contributed significantly to the defeat) and share the glory if they win (even if they didn't do jack).

East Asia, not South East Asia, South East Asia are countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia where I'm quite sure that soccer is more popular than baseball.

Even by that consider the fact that soccer is still very popular in East Asia, I was in China during the World Cup and during that time people didn't talk about other thing other than the WC, what was funny 'cause they were not even in it and they don't like their own style of soccer (which is pretty bad seen by both the foreign media and the average chinese). Aside that most fans here cheer for a european team.

In Japan, soccer is the number 2 sport in popularity and participation, even surpassing their own traditional sports like sumo, karate or judo.

Oh, sorry, I thought that included Japan.

Basically, I meant (in my head) Asian countries that were traditionally dominated/influenced by China as opposed to those influenced by India.
You are right though, Football is the second or even first most popular sport in those countries and they mostly focus on foreign leagues, not so much on their own ones.

With Baseball however, (at least in Japan and I hear also in Korea but that place is starcraft country) they actually have a league that's considered one of the best and excellent talents they can, for the most part, actually retain (most good players in Football play in the European leagues while mediocre European players know they can make for a living going to the "top leagues" in Asia and the Arab world)

In Japan the sports are divided in popularity by this:

    1. Baseball
    2. Soccer/Football
    3. Sumo
