Haven't
seen a Lain thread on /a/ in a while, of course I haven't been on /a/
in a while. However I wrote this a while ago and maybe a new crowd can
weigh in on it. Should probably update it but whatever. Also make sure
you watch the picture load in the next tab. ~~~~~~~~ "Information,
itself, is pure... The way in which information exists in its many
forms leaves for us the decision as to how it is we wish to use it.
Information itself has a certain purity. Humans have intentionality.
It's humans who decide how it is they wish to behave. Information and
technology are pure."
After reading this, quite a few things
clicked in my head regarding lain. The above, a quote from Maynard James
Keenan, put into words what I haven't been able to.
>Information is pure lain,
as portrayed both in the wired and the real world, is a young girl.
Metaphorically speaking, I can't think of a better symbol to represent
the idea of purity of information and technology, than a little girl.
Her
altered personality (The omnipresent God and watcher which may in fact
be her true personality) in the wired is a result of mankind having a
means of connecting on a global scale, and therefore having the means to
view and change this "pure entity" that is lain by the collective
information they amass. In a sense, the wired lain is a "corrupted"
version of her real-world self. Humanity's global connectivity becomes
her subconscious, turning her into a cynical, unfeeling party animal.
tl;dr The human condition corrupts God.
