First I got my friend to watch FLCL. We watched it together. He loved it.

There were only two times that I've gotten friends into anime/manga. They literally think Higurashi is the best anime ever made, they think School Days is amazing, they thought Elfen Lied was amazing. lilypichu once told me her favourite anime is monster. I don't try to force anime on people who are not into it. However I do get annoyed when someone I know claims to be really into anime BUT only ever watches Naruto, Bleach and/or One Piece. So I try to recommend something a bit better like say Soul Eater, Full Metal Alchemist or even Busou Renkin but they just dismiss it saying something like "yea maybe later" or "This is enough for me", then later I see them whining on FB about them have nothing else to watch this week because they finished watching the latest Naruto episode.
