What was your story about OP?

I've had several ideas for stories, and one I'm half assedly working on. I've always wanted to sort of make a manga though, since I like the 4/5 koma format, and I always make up a lot of quirky jokes in my head, but I can barely draw stick figures, so I can't do shit. I guess I'll just stick to prose.

I remember when Kumagawa was just starting to make Medaka box popular again, and I suddenly thought 'what would it take for a guy like that to get a girlfriend' (This was before he turned good and softened up, of course). I thought it was such an interesting idea that I had to plot it out and try writing it.

It was from the point of view of a shy girl who asked him out before the beginning of the story, and about how she deals with being in love with a guy with literally no redeeming features.
Unlike Ajimu, she genuinely cared for him despite all the cruel things he whimsically inflicted on her every day.

If anything, it was a really interesting insight into Kumagawa as a character and just what was necessary to make him work:
As an example, I realised that 'All-Fiction' was completely necessary for his character as he needed a way to escape retribution with no consequences to himself. Now that he's lost it, Nisio gave him the trait of 'standing back up, no matter the injury' to serve the same purpose.

I've tried my hand at writing a few times. Turns out I can't write fiction for shit, I'd be better off writing an instruction manual.

My story was about five to six teenage girls, and they were all lusting over a guys cock. However, they were all Yandere Here's the selling point though. They are actively Killing eachother to compete for him and he actually knows they like him but doesn't really give much of a fuck because he's receiving blowjobs on the side from some bitch who also is after his cock.

The ending was going to have the MC fucking the last one standing and then shooting her between the eyes before walking out of town all cool like, to go to the next town. of course his blowjob bitch is also coming with him.

I was going to extend the story to include. Some of the girls coming back as ghosts but I thought that's a bit too far fetched

It was a story about a sniper in the Red Army. He gets put in a battalion with a bunch of girl snipers and he has to teach them how to fight. Then the day comes that they actually have to go to war, and they all get separated. The MC ends up with a group that has only two snipers, himself, and the worst sniper of the battalion he trained.

The story goes on to show the relationship between the girl and the MC, where eventually they both get captured.

In one of the last few chapters I wrote the MC decides that they'll escape this place they've been put in, but he gets wounded. So the doctors take him to treat him, but instead of helping him, they do experiments on him. But by doing so, he learns of an escape plan.

Then the girl manages to escape, but she can't leave without MC guy. So I was going to write about how she guns down a bunch of scientists and doctors to save MC guy.

The idea originally sprouted when someone said they need more anime with guns and less swords. And another person said they wanted to see a harem with a bunch of chicks who weren't fucking moe moe tsun tsun bitches.

I actually ended up dropping the harem idea, but kept the story going.

OP, when boiled down, any plot sounds like something stupid a 12 year old would come up with. Break any great story down to its bare bones and it sounds like a stupid idea. What makes it good is in the writing-- the ability to capture something meaningful in the context of the story. That can be done with a shit story or a good story. If you've been with your story for 3 years, there's no reason you can't restart it, other than discouragement.

A girl graduates from highschool-- Top of the class, student council president, bright student, the whole shebang. A highly competitive student, she is, but rather than follow it up with an ivy-league school, she opts to study abroad in what I'll call "the colonies", where military research is being done. It doesn't go as planned.
That's the start, anyway-- the rest of the story involves the other characters you meet when you get there, her friends she left behind, the war going on, etc.

I always wanted to have a manga about a killer living with a loli girl ( kinda like in Leon:The professional)

The story would be about a psychotic guy who enjoys killing people for the thrill of the crime, he'd be kinda of a nutcase with no morals.
He lives on in a big city by stalking people living by themselves, breaking in their apartments, killing them, robbing them of all they have and sell valuables he stole.

One day one if his victims is a child abuser and he finds a little girl chained and close to dying, he decides to unchain her and not to kill her because she reminds him of himself.(-insert tragic flashback of abusive parents of the MC here-)

The girl follows him though as he leaves the place, reluctantly he ends up taking her in as a helper.
From then on the story unfolds but I don't really know how.

I'm good designing characters and stuff (drawing) and coming up with cool ideas for scenes and cinematography, but I absolutely suck at writing stories.

One of my ideas, that I'm actually working on, is a SoL, that's influenced a lot by YKK

Another one is for a sort of 4/5 koma. I have 2 directions I thought about taking with it. One is pretty much a straight man/funny man thing with characters that I had developed a bit in school, instead of paying attention. The other direction is with another character I had developed recently from a squid plush I owned, and I sort of developed him into a sort of hipster character, with me being his roommate and pretty much the straightman. I actually wrote a little on him, but after I while stopped. I still think of ideas every once in a while, just never write them down.

The 3rd idea I had is about some sociopath, that I guess is loosely based on me and my brother.

Pretty much he realizes the world is stagnant and stale, and that the motor of the world needs to start up again. Looking back through history, he realizes that all the great men in history started wars that destroyed, then invigorated the world and made them rebuild better than before. And so he wants to start one of the greatest wars we've seen, convinced that this with be the shock that gets the heart of mankind going again, and finally becoming stronger, and closer to reaching transcendence. I had this one for a long time, then I realized it's sort of been done before, but I kinda want to do it anyways. I had 2 directions in mind, but I won't get into them.

It basically take place sometime in this century. Earth is visited by nomadic aliens. In exchange for setting up a base for repairs, planet studying, and etc. They will share some of their technology and wisdom to the human race.

As you would expect, this whole ordeal brings along chaos, worry, and all types of drama. The comic actually takes place a few decades after contact. The story revolves around a few characters and their interactions with the struggle of old and new society.

There are some borderline sci fi elements in it, but I want to try and keep things down to earth while showing that their are ways of doing things in society that could make people think.

It's mainly a matter of cutting out the powerlevels, reintroducing meaningful conflicts and actually utilizing all the crap Kubo leaves laying around. There's a lot of stuff in the universe, there just isn't a lot of development.

I made a story based on a Germanic Pagan universe. A band of 9 selected skilled einherjar (skillful fallen warriors) were selected to aid Thor in the protection of Midgard. Each warrior would have an animal totem that influenced their personality, and gave them certain powers. For instance the main character had the essence of Fenrir, the MC's bro had the essence of one of Odin's Raven. The smart one of the group had the essence of Jormungandr (the world serpent)

Lots of traveling between the 9 realms. Lots of fighting trolls, giants, evil Germanic based spirits. Magic system for humans is based on the Runes, where as Elves use elemental nature.

The main antagonist would be Loki's one unnamed son, who the gods transformed into a wolf. This wolf killed Loki's other son (the wolf's brother) from the slain son's intestines they bound Loki to a boulder for the slaying of Baldr. Loki's unnamed son would have been wanting to be the one who unleashes ragnarok as punishment for involving him and his brother for something they had no part of.

It really was quite detailed. I even have a small Imp sidekick to provide comic relief in this otherwise dark story.

Here's a shitty idea:

MC is a beta faggot in his second year of high school. He's on the verge of becoming an hikikomori. All his friends from elementary school and middle school went to top high schools in tokyo and he's stuck going to a shitty high school. The only one of his friends who's in the same high school with him is his childhood friend (she actually could have gone to any top high school but opted for the shitty one to be near him). Why the MC is on the verge of becoming a hikki isn't explained till later. In any case, the MC doesn't go to school when it resumes after summer holidays and starts to stay home. His childhood friend comes to his house every day, but he doesn't let her into his room. One day he hears a knock on his door. He tells his childhood friend to go away. When he turns away from the door he sees a girl standing in the middle of his room.

She tells him that she's searched a thousand years for him. Soon after she appears, several monsters break into his house. The girl kisses him and unlocks a mystical power from within him. The boy then uses his powers to stop the monsters from breaking through their dimension into ours.

Oh sounds generic right? It's meant to. The twist is that all this that is happening is a scenario by the MC's future self designed to get the MC to stop being a hikki. In the first timeline. The MC fell into a great depression. While he locked himself up, he didn't know that his Childhood friend was also suffering. She loved him and leaned on him for support during her family troubles. Because the MC wasn't there for her, she committed suicide, having no one to help her with her issues or take her mind off her issues, this caused the main character to trigger his hidden powers which destroyed most of the world.

I'm currently working on a story, that where the main guy
1. has to collect all of his past comrades. He hasn't seem the most of them for hundreds of years, and on top of that, they are apathetic, good for nothing, and only a fucked up shadows of their past selves.
2. Then they have to defeat something, that they don't even know what it is, the only thing they know, is that
-it awakes in every few hundred years
-probably a god or something eternal, so it most likely cannot be killed, only sent back to the hell
- if you go near it, you WILL tremble in fear, no matter what kind of steel you balls were made of
-They are fighting this thing for 10000 years, in many dimensions
-They had ten gods to help them overcome the fear, and fight the thing and it's servants back to the depths, but last time they failed so hard, that said gods had to sacrifice themselves to "win", and the "heroes" were stripped ALL of their powers (except immortality, so they can suffer to the very end)


They can't fight it, and they don't want to fight it, cause someone in the past >implied that if they leave it alone, it may cause no problems. Well, except the MC, who wants some bloodshed, but as a failure he is, he cannot do it.


This wouldn't be THAT bad imo, but still, even if I write it, probably noone will ever read it. It can't be helped.

well i wrote like 9 chapters of it which at the time, I had it based in our universe set in Japan. I realized 9 chapters into it that keeping it in our universe would be a burden on the dramatic convention so I changed it to be set in a universe were germanic paganism is an out and out fact. at that point I wanted to rewrite it.
A big theme with it is trying to change fate and also the band of warriors are being reincarnated all the time so their is a tinge of "immortality is a curse" deal to it.

The thing is, is that I planned it out so thoroughly in my head years ago, I felt no need to write it all down.

I had an awesome steampunk/magic series in mind that had to do with political and class systems based on different elements of magic, brought about by a stupid goddess trolling her brother - who then proceeded to shatter her into pieces and place her into each of the different systems so she could experience what she caused. She gives her holders enough power to use all the elements though, leading to them eventually having to run from the ruling class and a religious cult that either want to take advantage of them or kill them after it's discovered.

Then Avatar: The Last Airbender came out and my idea didn't seem so cool any more.

A few years from now, mankind discovered Heaven by accident. In a laboratory the scientists heard an angelic voice speaking an indecipherable language never heard on Earth before. The line of communication stayed open for a mere 20 minutes before the line shut off and was never heard from again. The resulting contact, whilst brief, was to be devastating.

10 years later, the world has changed. After the line to Heaven vanished, some people throughout the world suddenly became able to speak what would be called ‘The Language of the Angels’. By using it, a person is able to summon things from Heaven, specialised weapons, abilities, mundane things. More often than not though, the person ends up killing themselves in an explosion due to nobody actually knowing what they're saying.

As a result, however, the world changed to suit their wants, making them the new upper-class. Anyone who is discovered to be able to speak the language of the angels suddenly becomes everything they ever wished they could be – seeing as they could potentially blow up the Earth and all that.

What they don’t realise is that these people are linking up to their doppelgangers in an alternate dimension where computers have become so advanced that they’ve become a spoken language to create and summon things. The ones who have gained the ability in our dimension to speak it are linking up with the knowledge their doppelgangers on the other side have, most of who are from the military. The reason the people stuff up is simply because the resonation of knowledge isn’t always stable between the two worlds (and people are fucking stupid to be using a highly-advanced super-language they don’t know).

That's the premise, but there's nothing for the characters or plot really.

You're a guy sucked into a VN by a girl. It's then discovered that the VN was already completed by another guy who cheated his way to the girl that's supposed to be the hardest to get. He's effectively become the "king" from this cheat though, and the VN girls left behind want revenge for breaking the laws of the game. They can't get revenge themselves though because of the game's laws, so they were only able to summon a new MC to do it for them.

So you're playing a "finished" game while trying to play a new game. At the end you're crowned the King, the previous guy is kicked out of the game, and the girl you rescued from the previous one falls in love with you... and then locks you up in the tower with her, meaning all the progress you made with the other girls was for nothing, except to make them angry, leading to them summoning a new MC to kick your ass.

Not an anime but a mango that i'd like to draw.

The story takes place on a gigantic ring the size of earth's orbit around the sun. The surface of the ring is similar to that of Earth, which no longer exists. Much of the ring is uninhabitable wasteland where the winds have eroded away the dirt, revealing gigantic megastructures inhabited by malevolent creatures made of iron and silicon. Inside the ring, time and space are unstable. Artifacts from hundreds of thousands of years ago sprout up from the ground and books written in languages not invented yet can be found within the deep catacombs underneath the surface of the ring. Some times, the ring makes replicas of places on earth or even buildings in the middle of nowhere. Some times railroads start in the middle of nowhere, stretch for hundreds of miles and then end abruptly. At night, ghost trains full of long dead passengers would speed through the rails. One of the first scenes is of a dust covered statue of liberty watching over a desert made of finely grinded glass.

Even people from the far past are restored to life in the ring. It's likely that there is a reincarnation of Beethoven composing music somewhere far far away, or another Alexander commanding a tank battalion. Those who have been restored by the ring usually have only dreamlike fleeting memories of their past lives.

The people that live on the ring are very isolated and rarely travel outside of their civilization, making people willing to travel massively vast distances between cities highly valued. The only way to quickly travel from one point on the ring to another is by taking the 'trams' located on the edges of the world. These trams travel thousands of miles per hour but the places that they stop are unimaginably far apart, so most humans have never seen one before. Technologically advanced civilizations tended to congregate around the tram stops while more backwards civilizations were further away.

A failing musician falls to his knees in a high weed devoured field and pleas to the lord for a muse. He is struck by lightning and wakes up with his head in a moe moe lili's lap. With her by his side he discovers that he can plant suggestions deep in people's minds using his song, and anyone that hears his lyrics are instantly hooked. He reaches unknown fame and rules the world through song, until his words begin to twist against him.

Elena's story was about a 16 year-old girl who was visited by a 'god' (the god in this is just a title, not really a god) who offered to pass on his powers at a price. In short, the catch was that she must join a faction out of the many that will find her. She accepts his terms and receives "god" powers with the former "god" as her mentor.

Currently working on one now but it's making less and less sense as it goes on.

I once had an idea about a man who was part of a special KGB task force sent to the Ukraine to oversee the Holodomor. It was set in one of the cities and the man was just a young officer who was to report on the effects of the famine each day, tallying the number of dead, how old they were, time it took till death from the beginning of the Starvation. He was to watch as he saw numerous people turn into walking skeletons before his eyes before falling dead on the streets, the story has no real plot but would just be the day to day observations and thoughts of the man. Before she could finish her story it was already late night and Rikal can't stay up for shit (hell if i know, unlimited beta works perhaps?) so he decides to returns to his apartment (i forgot to mention they were talking about the story in a cafe). Takes place in a suburban town in California where the main sources of income are from the nearby Roller Coaster theme park, and scenery/sets that Hollywood uses to film.

MC is an apathetic kid who is either in the last days of highs school, summer after graduation, first year of college, or all three. Him and his friends are drug dealers, and they are all pretty apathetic and hedonistic. MC has a passion for philosophy but it turns into nihilism.

A street kid/train hopper (young hobo) who is a few years older than the MC comes into town on a train, and stays in the town for a bit. He is passionate about life and half crazy. The MC meets him through a drug deal.

MC slowly is influenced by this character's passion, and changes over time.

While all of this is happening, subtley in the background its hinted at that there is a supposed epidemic where something (not sure what yet) is being spread causing apathy.

Currently trying to write a slice of life/harem series as a first attempt. MC is a guy who believes with all his heart that if he reaches 30 as a virgin, he'll become a wizard. After his mother has an accident, the family business of a hot springs resort falls into his hands while she recovers. There, 7 out of the 9 staff are all gorgeous girls who cater to different types (Kuudere, Tsundere, Loli etc.) Story depicts various events in which he struggles to hold true to his idea, and his only ally in all this, is a talking cat.

MC is actually a maturing wizard and has been placed in a simulated environment for the purpose of studying and combating the corruption which turns all wizards evil once they mature enough to use their powers. The talking cat is actually a partially summoned familiar that goes from cat, to loli cat girl, to teen cat girl, to mature cat girl, which goes yandere if the MC should ever sway from his goal

Considering an end where the familiar fully matures, revealing how close the MC is to maturing himself. Townsfolk turn on him and try to kill him rather then risk another wizard, but his familar protects him. In his desperation, he activates his wizard powers, is corrupted and slaughters the town for sheer amusement.

Prologue, The world are protected by the four divine beast under the Creator's will. Each one of them stabilize and maintain balance of the world and chaos will spread if the balance is disturbed. At japan, there is a boy whom name is Boy A. His daily life is involve fapping at 2d, playing eroge game, skipping school because he is afraid to face the bullies at school. The MC, a mischievous young hacker, rigs a premium-rate phone poll to vote the physically diminutive yet rich student council president “girl with the least promising chest” and as punishment is forced to be her personal servant for the rest of the school year. He is sullen and snarky while she calls him demeaning names and physically abuses him. She places him in a collar of bondage with the Latin inscription “today I am a slave until I kill and make myself a free man” on it and forces him to help her in her duties as non-unitary district ward officer for the Liberal Democrats.

While helping her other assistants (an irreverent girl who loves anime, a quiet big-breasted girl with glasses who loves cosplay and a sporty girl who loves fighting) in the local lib dem association club room MC hacks the local party's database and uncovers a conspiracy to assassinate the chairman of the local council and force a by-election in his marginal tory-leaning ward. When the student council president realises this would put the lib dems' plurality on the local electoral boundaries commission at risk they race to uncover the plot, helped along the way by the physically imposing, taciturn, cigar-smoking leader of the Liberal Democrats who is scarred from his time in Afghanistan himself. The series ends with the group putting down the conspiracy by storming the council chambers while in session and liquidating all the elected members for the entire unitary authority and city region in a hail of gunfire.

Afterwards the student council president tells the hacker that he's earned the right to take off the collar now, but he says he thinks he'll wear it for a little longer (don't get any ideas though, he doesn't like wearing it or anything) therefore setting up the second season.

The plot is simple
Mafia boss capture scientist in the world and by using his dna, he develop a drug to give his underling the power of immortality but since it is a weaker version of the original, once they reach the limit of healing they will die.
China is rule by white tiger, and both the mafia boss and the triad leader work together to rule the world in exchange white tiger rule the east and the mafia boss rule the west. With the collaboration of the both boss a new breed of super human were develop. A soldier with the power of immortality and speeds but since it is a weaker version of the original, once they reach the limit of healing they will die and they cant go super speed mode more than 5 min.

Blue dragon and green turtle team up to save the world. But by defeating the bad guys, they are erasing the divine beasts in their body causing the balance will never be repair.(keikaku doori by black snake)
eventually they beat up the final boss and the creator come and restore back everything back to normal.

I was also working on a manga/comic/whatever... Somewhere around seventy pages and several chapters to go. I kind of lost interest. Shit dragged on because I was too slow drawing it, and I think the actual pacing was too slow as well. The plot got a bit convoluted as well. Phrasing is writing yourself into a corner, I believe. I won't describe what it's about, because it's not any good. So I said in six months, if it's not finished, I'm dropping it and moving on. Good plan?

I feel bad for my characters, like I let them down. Maybe in a few years I'll rework it into a one-shot and give them a good story. But I learned a lot about writing from my failure. The novel I'm working on will benefit from it.
