Not Hetalia exactly, but Hetaoni, and I first heard about this from /a/ actually. /a/ always brings it up whenever we're discussing time loops and the characters trapped in them, and because of that somehow this series ended up on my neverending backburner of "To Play: One Day, Maybe" months and months back.

I've actually heard a lot about this series myself. Maybe you'll motivate me to finally getting around to watching it?

I know this now. I was under the impression it was an actual game, y'know that you get to play. So you can imagine mfw I learned you only watch.

That all these fujoshi are sacrificing eight or so hours of their lives to watch subtitled installments of a game with crappy sprites and herp avatars, WHY JUST WHY? If all they wanted was some boy-on-boy, surely there are more accessible venues, especially considering the fandom this is all from?? That, and this game having more fanart and MADs and what-have-you than real, legitimate (also, good) series kind of pisses me off.

And that's how I came to be here today, to see what all the hullabaloo is about.

Except HetaOni came first. Also, while the setting and beginning are based on a horror game called AoOni, but about three episodes in and HetaOni has already diverged pretty far from the source material, and by the time you get caught up with what's out so far, it's unrecognizable from AoOni. All that's left to remember AoOni by are the avatars.

Will do, and do you have the one about nuking someone's house? That's the picture that first piqued my curiosity about this series, but I didn't save it. Not entirely, I don't think so. The series starts out pretty craptastic overall, but if you tough out those first couple of episodes, shit gets really fucking awesome. This includes the avatars, but also the story and really just everything.

I watched the first two seasons dubbed on netflix while my back was healing. Wasn't that great.

But wasn't as awful as people would have you believe, and sometimes it was surprisingly funny. Knowing Hetalia actually isn't making a lot of this shit up probably helps.
