Yeah. That´s why it sold around 500 copies because hikkis prefer to stay in denial. And I don´t have a favourite anime and yes, SHiN is a huge faggot.

My witty attempt at a satire done in the form of a mock news headline was to bring attention to the fact that people have already made this same thread with this same point countless times.

I ignored these threads mostly. And after many years I finally got around watching the whole of it because I dropped / stalled the show after some few episodes long ago because it´s just too fucking depressive if you actually are in the same situation.

Now, after forcing myself to watch the whole of it, I don´t feel really inspired to work in a ramen shop. Should I?

No, which is also part of the reason it sold so bad. The ones most moved by it, are also the ones least likely to buy the DVD.

I really like the NHK franchise, but the one thing that bothers me is that it implies that the only people who are Hikkies are ones that fall unwillingly into it due to social ineptitude.

Is it not possible that some people just prefer to live that way, for whatever reasons they have?
    >> Anonymous 09/12/11(Mon)16:59 No.54612708
    >>54612530
But the show offers not really much considering change. It´s all about:
    - don´t kill yourself because your family will hate it
    - give in their demands and just do what they want
    - get a fucking job, even flipping burgers is better than what you actually do

Not implying the show is generally bad (touching plot, awesome soundtrack), but the message it conveyed was shit tier.

I feel like I should pick this up, anyone know if there is a 720 version out? The only one I can find on Nyaa is the 480 or a weird DVD version that doesn't state it's size.
    >> Anonymous 09/12/11(Mon)17:09 No.54613022
    >>54612923
It's pretty old and the animation really isn't the important aspect of the series so I'd say that 480 would get the job done.

Also, I'm not going to critize you for being new, but NHK is a real fundamental. You should probably watch it as soon as possible.

It's also really good. If you like it, try the manga and the novel too

    >Is it not possible that some people just prefer to live that way, for whatever reasons they have?
The point is that it's an impossibility to live like that unless you happen to have a lot of money for some reason, otherwise you'll have to go get a job some time. And even if you live in a country where you get welfare support to a degree that you can live a modest life of it, you'll in most cases still be forced to apply for jobs, etc.

It's not really about just being reclusive, for most of the characters (and real life Hikkikomori); it's being reclusive on a pathological level. Like Sato who had anxiety issues about what others may think about him for example.

I don't think someone who just doesn't like being around people but is capable of functioning in society to a degree that he can survive well on his own is applies here. It's a different thing really and it probably wouldn't be too interesting to watch.

I think we are on the same wavelength. I was just pointing out that NHK seemed to imply that most reclusive-types do suffer from things like crippling anxiety, and are reclusive because of it, and not because they are capable but simply don't want to be around people.
