Time travel is kind of irrelevant. The only time it's explicityly stated is when Hamdo goes into the chamber at the end and yells "send me any time" or something. Apart from that it could be a different dimension/planet/whatever and it wouldn't make a difference.

Although it's kind of cool that it's post-apocalyptic or whatever.
