Everyone knows I watch anime I'm just not a faggot about it. In fact I used to watch alot of anime with my dad and sisters and uncle. I still watch occasionally with my dad and uncle. Dad's white, mom's black. Older brother got my sister and I into animes when he came back from his first semester at MIT. Watched Naruto for about a year(started watching just when the chunin exam arc started), then realized about 15 episodes into the "let's get Sasuke back" that the show wasn't going to be as good as had been(because that arc refused to fucking end), and I dropped it. Started lurking /a/ because of an /a/non in my WoW guild and started watching TTGL and Code Geass with my sister.

Didn't help that my first Gundam was Gundam SEED though.

Still watch stuff with Dad from time to time, currently watching Steins;Gate together when he visits.

Mom's not all that into animes though, but she didn't seem to protest it all.

I've tested the waters a few times in the past as far as my family's acceptance/interest in my hobbies, but it was pretty clear that they just didn't get it or thought it was weird. Gave up years ago and have hidden my power level ever since.

For the few friends of mine who actually know I like anime, they don't seem to care because I never make a point about gushing over it. It's just a "Yeah, I'm into it" from me and a "Oh, that's cool" from them, and I don't let it go any further.

It's a double edged sword being a black anime fan. No one expects it so it's easy to hide with minimal effort, but that lack of expectation can make it all the more shocking when they find out if your power level is REALLY high.

I'm 25, so my power level is high from 15 years of experience but I grew out of the whole rabid anime fanboy stage like a decade ago, so I have nothing to worry about.

I have two black friends who like anime.

The first, who was younger than me by 3 years but we lived in the same apartment building most of our childhood lives so we were pretty good friends despite the age difference.

He was an adultswimfag, so he had pretty shit taste in anime. He didn't really keep it secret around his family, which consisted of his mom and his younger brother. They didn't really care and were pretty okay with it, but I don't think the mom knew too much about such interests. He eventually got his little brother into Inuyasha, which should be a sin.

The second one isn't secret about it either, and his other brother likes anime, manga, and comics as well. Their didn't really understand it either, she just let them go about their business. Both of them like Naruto and Bleach, so their tastes are pretty bad, but he does often watch anime I suggest to him that isn't complete shit.

Pretty much all my friends back in high school were black. They were complete nerds though. Like me. Both lived in the ghetto (and still do) and are the most fucking rockin' people there are.

Their families don't seem to give a shit, but judging from the fact that (i'll call him tdawg) tdawg's mom bought him a poster of a half naked women, i don't think she has much confidence in his sexuality.

But overall they just don't give a fuck. They work and buy this stuff all on their own, so their families don't care.

Princess Mononoke is a personal favorite for my dad, and my mom just looks at it as cartoons from Japan. Well, I kinda keep it low profile. My parents know I'm learning Japanese, build Gunpla, listen to Japanese music, and that I watch anime. That's it.

Well, my mom always jokes about me bringing home a Japanese woman or some shit, and my brother is always asking me to say random shit in Japanese. AND when his friends come over THEY ASK me to say random shit in Japanese. And when family I've haven't seen for a few years (Before I started learning Japanese) come over, my mom is all like "Oh, Anon. Say something in Japanese for them!" It's a pretty annoying cycle.

Black guy here, I don't hide shit and nobody in my family really gives a damn about it. I'm into anime the way that my uncles are into cars, and that's just fine with them.

Hell, my grandmother's even complimented the way I have my Gaogaigar stuff arranged.

Meh, my family is mostly cool with it. My sister watches as often as I do although she is more of a Koreaboo than anything nowadays. My aunt used to watch the dubbed shit like Robotech and Tekkaman Blade. She even watched Akira with me and my sis back when SciFi Channel showed animu movies. Although she was pissed that Graduation OVA spinoff with the mecha had nudity in it and confiscated the tape for a year (until I stole it back). But she doesn't really watch it anymore. My mother thinks it's odd but leave me to my devices. She used to complain about my buyfagging until I pointed out her purse collection full of Coach, Gucci Louie Vuitton and the like. My grandmother don't really care outside my artfagging skills.

None of them know I am a fujoshi, I hide that side of me pretty well and hide the porn even at my age. I'm in a bit of a rough spot in life right now that made me have to live with my family for a minute until I move out. Plus they're homophobic and the shit can get me kicked out.
