Will you pick rifles or computers?
I stick with the prod
>>53648028Mah nigga.
gimme the GEP gun.
I never asked for this
OH MY GOD JC A BOMB
Both. Computers is the most useful tech skill, rifles is the most useful weapon skill.
Would I be able to hop into DE: HR without having played the previous games?
>>53648181Stick with the prod, JC. We're cops, not killers.
Dragon's tooth sword plus the ghost/fly cheats. Stalking people from underground, coming up to slash them, and going back under was far too gratifying.
I vhanted oh-range!
I bought this just for TF2 hats, so none.
>>53648227Well it is a prequel, but playing the original game first would be the best to get to know the setting. You can skip DE2. It is... just awful.
>>53648227Yes. It's a prequel after all. You might miss out on a few tie-ins, but nothing important. But you should kill yourself for not having played the original. Why aren't you playing it right now?
>>53648240I felt guilty about using that sword. Seems way too overpowered.
All I have is a candy bar
>>53648306Mah nigga
>my face when Steam linked The Recut under the TF2 Deus Ex news
Unatco hurt my weenie.
>>53648433Individual Eleven = Majestic 12Suddenly the plot lines of 2nd Gig tied with killer7 make sense
I pick desu.
>>53648357>>53648359Thanks, I've read the story for the first and that's about it.I haven't played the original because all I played as a kid on the PC was Half Life and CS. As for now, I hate to say it but I can't get into the grafics
swimming
>>53648492Moar liek unatMOE amirite?
Computer rifles.
>>53648537Oh come on mang, the retro vibe is the best thing about it.That and the fact that nobody will ever attempt to make another game like it ;___;
I pick swimming
7850 points in swimming
I-Its not like I want to wait for your killswitch or anything Denton..
>>53648722JC and Simons are my OTP.
>>53648607Yeah, it sounds pretty cool. But I'm just too pampered by modern graphics - it's just hard to play through older story driven games unless it's for nostalgia's sake. Do you think HR will live up to the franchise's name?
>>53648537Get the first game (GOTY edition), then download New Vision. It will help you overcome your "graphics" problem without ruining the...uh..."atmpsphere".http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-new-vision
>>53648768Thanks guy, this sounds neat
>>53648767Well it certainly looks promising, the takedowns look great. I hope the story is as good as the original. But yes, do finish the original. It is simply a game everyone MUST play at least once.
Cross-bro here. Traqdarting Metal Gearing Denton.
I was worried about how the game would turn out, so I tried the leaked press release. I loved it. I also learned that I should really fucking put shit in my computer skills early on.Still disappointed that I actually had to fight that one boss, though. It was hard as balls for someone who plays stealth until I realized I could throw all the explosive canisters at him.
>>53648362it's compensated for by that godawful SOUND it makes THAT FUCKING SOUND
>>53648767>just too pampered by modern graphicsNot an excuse. More than enough mods to fix your problem. And modern graphics will look like shit 10 year down the road. That said, Deus Ex artstyle wasn't anything special to begin with.
>>53648922>THAT FUCKING SOUNDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>there will never be a game like DX ever again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGnxN7KQTDs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htnhNyRiAfE
>>53648537If you fiddle around with the settings you can choose DirectX instead of the other ancient options that are default. Makes it look a lot better. And there are mods out there to improve the graphics beyond that. Don't be a faggot.
>going into the womens bathroom>like a bossHOW UNPROFESSIONAL
>>53648971it's the CLANG it makes every time it hits something. An utterly tiresome sound.
DE was a great game, but it always bugged me you could hack your boss' computer right in front of him and read his emails and only get a minor verbal reprimand, there's other stuff like that too.
>>53649082>>53648970I'm already going to, what more do you want from me guy?
>>>/v/
>>53649122>Boss tells you to stay out of there
>>53649169>Pirating Deus ExHow much of a faggot can someone be?
>>53649169Don't worry kondou-san, I can't play the first one because I get motion sickness from it and I have no idea why. It happens to me with a lot of older games though and even stuff like half-life (yet somehow other things on the same engine don't bother me). So I also have to just read its story and stuff.I did play it as a kid but I don't remember at all and I never finished it.
>>53649187>implying plays video games other than boat o cross
>>53649247/v/ plays*Forgetting those words like a pro.
>>53649160In DE:HR you can do that too and Sarif won't even comment on it.Also you can go to women's bathroom and you're reprimanded for it.I like all the little nods towards the original they've put in the new one.
I tend to go stealth in games with shit combat. So computers.
>>53648607VTMB is the oft-considered the spiritual successor.
I'll take the GEP Gun. Never know when you'll run into heavy armor.
So, the rumors that /v/ and /a/ are married are true?
Can somebody tell me who S-E choose for the Japanese dub? Some people say Rie Kugumiya but sounds like troll.>Oh my god JC Staff, a bomb!
My vision is augmented.
>>53649331No but the fact that they've always had a huge amount of population overlap is still a fact.
>>53649122Something I always found funny:>Enter Bathroom>Woman says "Well, I never." to MC>peers scold himMeanwhile:>Enter Bathroom>Tiny tsundere love interest throws sink at MCGuess which one is many magnitudes more hilarious?
>>53649366What a shame.
>>53648624>>53648626Despite the jokes. Swimming is a very useful skill throughout the game. It lets you take better routes, find hidden loot, allows you to hide underwater for longer durations, and you don't have to carry rebreathers.
>>53649218I also pirated Assassin's Creed, Fallout NV, Persona 3/4 undub, Majora's Mask, and all my anime. I plan on buying MW3>>53649237Yeah, it's just weird going from all the current gen bloom and particle effects to older games. But I'm already downloading it so I'll give it a go.
>>53649331>Go to /v/, see a Dragonball thread>Go to /a/, see a Deus Ex threadI don't know which board is which anymore
>>53649411>pirates all games except cowadoody10/10
>>53649408There were a lot of parts in Deus Ex where I wish I had better swimming skills, but instead chose others above it because I kept telling myself "Nah, you won't need it again."
>>53649449I can't pirate cowadoody if I want to camp in a corner calling in kill streaks on 13 year olds. Anyway, the most recent game I bought was E.Y.E.
>>53649435WOH!
>>53648767Nonetheless you should at the very least watch an LP of it if you are so against playing it yourself.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx6aazT5bKIIts a very story-driven game so your experience of HR is bound to be enhanced if you at least know some of the story and memorable gameplay moments.
>>53649497Who is this? I don't read moonspeak.
>mfw I realised you can skip bosses>mfw Annas killphrase scene
>>53649533I'm installing it right now. I'll try playing through it first, but thanks for the heads up guy
God fucking dammit, I hate all of you. I'm reinstalling this game right now.
>>53649596Oh just a heads up.Liberty Island is a terrible first mission, dont judge the game till you get to Hells Kitchen.
>>53649356Has there been any footage of the Japanese version? I know it was only slightly censored in Japan for genitalia but other than that pretty much the same.Perhaps this game would convince them to dub the original Deus Ex.
I pre-ordered the game earlier today, and the money has been taken from my bank account, but I do not yet have the game on my steam account.I only bought it because I learned of the TF2 material.
>>53649596I'm going to give you a fair warning as someone who loves this game. Try to push through the first level. It's where I kept stopping for years. Once I finally pushed through that dreadful mission, I fell in love with the game. I've heard a lot of people complain about it too, so don't let that one part discourage you, friend.
>>53649396>Tiny tsundere love interest throws sink at MCCan we get a pic of Taiga wearing shades?
Have a Japanese trailerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DqZOAWdNjs
>>53649621Kotaku showed off a Japanese trailer a few weeks ago. You can probably find it on youtube.
>>53649659>>53649613The first mission is like 30-45 minutes long at the most. If you drop it that early on you have nobody to blame but yourself.
Liberty Island is okay but nothing special. Grab the GEP gun because you are going to use the fuck out of that (and you don't get one for a while). Just power through it; there's not much to explore that's worth anything.Past that things get better.
>>53649659>>53649613what? liberty island is awesome, i've played it thousands times because demo version and i never got bored with it
>>53649613>>53649659Roger that chief. I'm waiting for the new vision mod to download now.
>>53649601"Your appointment to FEMA should be finalized within the week. I've already discussed the matter with the Senator."
>>53649718>Using firearms in first mission
>Not picking swimming.
>>53649727I think the fact that you don't really have anything in the way of gear/skills/cyberware that makes it boring. There's alternate routes, sure, but only for 1/2-2/3rds the mission. Not like later missions when things feel like they open up.
>>53649695Only if you know where to go and know how to deal with the security cameras and that you can move boxes around .A first time player isnt likely to know this.
But seriously, is there anyone who didn't pick Computers skill?
>>53649677Nobody confirmed who the voices there are. Anybody familiar with kanji and Japanese names?>>53649356>>53649435>>53649501>>53649552
>>53649833that's what tutorial is for
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrDp2zOAR64&feature=player_detailpage#t=533s
>>53649834Probably. But they're the same people who'd pick a stun prod for the first mission. The same people who are playing Deus Ex wrong.
God Tier:Hong KongGood Tier:Liberty Island, Hell's Kitchen, MJ12 baseAverage Tier:Harbor/Super Tanker, Paris, CathedralShit Tier:Vandenberg, Ocean Labs, Area 51
>>53649826Pretty much this. It felt so restricting. For a first time player, even after at least going through the tutorial, it's still a pretty difficult mission. Also, if you're used to games that auto-save a lot, dying near the end of the level and realizing that you didn't save at some point is really discouraging.
>>53649882>my face when FLY AWAY NOW
>>53649866>Hiroki Yasumoto as Adam Jensen
>>53649833Nah, man. I played it about six months back for the first time and it didn't even take me an hour to complete. Unless there were a bunch of side objectives I missed and things to explore.
Just beat Deus Ex recently and I really have to ask, what's so useful about getting a high computer skill? There aren't a whole lot of places where you can use the turrets to kill enemies and you can still hack most computers to unlock doors and shit with an average computer skill. Personally, I found lockpicking most useful throughout the entire game.
>>53649917>Playing Deus Ex wrongThere is no wrong way to play Deus Ex, provided you are good at what you do.Crossbow pretty much make you consider enemy placement.
>>53649882>Fly Away NowOh god what.
Am I using crossbows wrong or something? I thought they could be used for silent takedowns but all they do is injure the enemy slightly, who then freaks out and runs to the nearest alarm, alerting the entire base of my presence.
>>53649991Did you talk to the informant or find that underground storage area with nothing of real value/interest?Because aside from that, Liberty Island has nothing of interest I remember. Besides the fact that it has an ending.
>>53650060You shoot tranquilizers, it takes time for them to collapse. Basically shoot them and run like hell/hide.
First time I tried to use the stun prod, I snuck up behind someone and gave them a good jab with it, and then they turned around and started shooting at me.That's when I threw the fucking thing away.
>>53650092I've tried but the tranquilizers don't seem to work fast enough.
>>53648922Needs moar trenchcoat and conspiracies
>>53650092Pfft, use the lethal option and aim for the head. Problem solved.
>>53650016All I can think of is that it gives you more time to read e-mails or watch a camera feed in one sitting.>>53650060If anyone knows the answer to this, I'd like to know too. It seems tranq darts are really only good for fucking JC up.
>>53649917What's wrong with using stun prods? Pretty easy way to knock people out as long as you aim correctly for the back of their necks.
>>53649677If you can't identify the voice actors in the Japanese trailer then you're a dirty casual!Pic related, it's Eliza
I'm really tempted to pre-order HR. Should I /a/?
>>53650157you find a stun prod on the corpse of a unatco agent about 30 seconds after being given the choice. you dont get the GEP gun otherwise until about 3 missions later, so picking the stun prod is pointless
>>53650092shoot them, then shoot them again while they go for the alarm, the stagger will prevent them from activating it or use tactics, set a gas grenade near the alarmif you don't care about non-lethal then switch to darts/stealth gun and aim for the head
>>53650060I'm pretty sure if you aim at the head it's an automatic knock out IF IT HITS. At the start of the game, JC's aim isn't exactly reliable. You're better off using the stun prod (hold it down, don't jab), or just avoiding enemies all together.
>>53650136headshot with a tranq dart knocks them out instantly and silently
>>53650214 i meant to quote >>53650060
Is it wrong that I can practically quote the entire intro to this game? This game is so oddly memorable. must be the awkward voice acting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKIlG-a7KK8
>This fucking modhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kpVX11Hd0s&feature=related
>>53650326Wat
>>53650164So the news reporter is a tsundere. Oh my god JC Staff a bomb indeed. "It's not like I have a conspiracy theory about David Sariff or anything...dummy!"So whos playing Megan?
>>53650174If you liked the original. It really does feel like a Deus Ex game.
