    >So, we are making this adaptation of a story about female assassins. What do you think it needs more of?
    >Guys.

It's like they deliberately wanted to destroy any possible romantic connection between Mirelle and Kirika. Mirelle now is 28, ten years older than Kirika, there's no previous connection between them (no clock, Mirelle past is way different), there are *two* male love interests for Mirelle.
And to to top it off, Soldats are now hashishin-themed band of assassins. And it's set in 60s. And most of characters have background in WW2. And all the new characters are american.

[MIREILLE DUBOIS] 26/28, blonde, beautiful, sexy, graceful and stylish, "Bardot meets Deneuve." Mireille is an artist plugged into a sexy Paris avant garde. She is also one of the top assassins in Europe - cold, efficient and deadly - working under the codename 'Noir'. Mireille is a survivor of the War in the East, a woman who experienced horrors and traumas that forged her into 'Noir'. She embraces life and lives it to the full, but always on her own terms. Deep down Mireille is all about control - of her environment, people and herself. She can make you feel like the only person in a crowded room, and then, when you are, kill you without compunction.

[KIRIKA] 18-20, Japanese, stunning, chilling, balletic and agile. Kirika is a human guided missile. Programmed from infancy in the ways of The Soldats, an ancient society of assassins. Kirika follows her orders without question and would happily die to achieve her mission. Knows nothing of the outside world, and relies on her trainer Lance for guidance. After a fight with Mireille, Kirika develops amnesia and cannot remember her Soldat past. Suddenly she's an 18 yr old girl with 1960s Paris at her feet, and Kirika is going to experience it all, with only Mireille as her guide.

[SMITH] In his 30s, lean, good looking, shady and dangerous, he's an American CIA agent working undercover to gain the trust of the KGB. He has a long, tension-filled, possibly sexual history with Mireille and seems disappointed that she's engaged to John. A gambling addict with debts in the 100,000 franc range, he uses Mireille as a courier for his dirty business with the Russians. Under everything Smith is a true patriot and will do anything to protect US interests in the dark and shady espionage world. A man used to making hard decisions...

[JOHN PHILIP LANCASTER III] 28, hip, charismatic, and mischievous, a very good-looking American man, he's the son of a famed General, and heir to the
Lancaster Armament Empire. A former war hero, John got screwed up in the Korean war and has a dark past as a junkie. His body is lean, bordering on skinny, and scarred. He still enjoys drink and drugs, but he's also ready to settle down with Mireille as his wife, until his vengeful ex, Alice, takes advantage of him while he's tripping on acid. John has no idea about Mireille's secret identity as the assassin "Noir"

[ALICE] 24, a stunning, jealous, and catty blonde American woman, "pure '60s sex appeal," not the brightest bulb, she's a model and cokehead who used to date John. She still loves him and can't understand why he chose Mireille over her. Alice takes advantage of John sexually while he's tripping on acid. Alice cares nothing about repercussions and doesn't really think ahead. Everything is about Alice getting what Alice wants...

Aside from it being western LA adaptation of anime series (and we know how they end up usually), why do they rewrite it so extensively? Don't they know what fans of the original liked it for? And if they aim for a completely new audience, why buy the name?

Well, I've read the casting sides. The script excerpts are fucking horrible. It reads like something written by ASBAR-era Frank Miller. Most of the scenes concern the shitty hetero love square and the painfully generic film noir stock characters who are involved in that drama (Alice/John/Smith). I really don't understand why this shit is part of the plot. It's like a cheesy pulpy soap opera, rife with gross sexist stereotypes, trying too hard to be "edgy" with lots of sex and drugs. I think they're trying to aim for a Mad Men feel, and failing miserably at it.

The sides don't reveal anything that isn't in the character descriptions, except that Milosh is in this too. He's a young student, and Kirika loses her virginity to him in an explicit sex scene that made me want to burn my eyes out as I was reading. Kirika falls in love with him, but SPOILER! she kills him in a jealous rage when he cheats on her. I'm surprised by how batshit crazy she is in this scene - she even kills the girl he cheated with. That's right. Calm, collected Kirika losing her shit and killing innocent people over a boyfriend.

I don't know if there's a chance that certain parts of these sides might be partially faked to cover up spoilers/prevent actual plot leaks. I sure hope they are fake, because they're terrible.

    >>53248707
    >>53246538
Also... Kirika seems creepier, more aggressive, and more expressive than she was in the anime. A lot of the dialogue in an early convo with Mireille is lifted straight from the anime. Not surprisingly, that is the only scene that I liked out of these snippets. There's definitely a lot of tension between them indicated in the script. Unfortunately, it probably won't be sexual tension because Mireille and Kirika are both madly in love with men. There's lots of straight sex, and it's implied that Mireille is slutty ("I didn't recognize you without a naked man on your face" - Smith to Mireille)

There wasn't even an implied lesbian relationship between Kirika and Mirelle (Chloe wanted to make tender lovings to Kirika but that's Chloe) so my rage isn't directed to the fact that they made them whores, it's how sexist, retarded and beyond B movie writing this is.

    Speaking of Chloe.
    Where is she?
    Where is Grand Retour?
Why do Soldats sound like muslim fanatics now?
What was the point of even calling this "Noir" and main heroines "Mirelle" and "Kirika" if you're not going to have anything in common with the source material? They better not use "BASED ON POPULAR JAPANESE CARTOON" advertisment point because then I'm seriously going to strangle a bitch for ruining the image of a decent show.

There was very much explicit emotional bond, which wrapped them in "black thread of fate". Which was the heart of character development. Now they removed that, rewrote characters, rewrote setting, added characters, and to what end?
