It was okay. It had some pretty nice violent scenes. I was all over pretty much all of Lucy's torture/killing scenes. Too bad that all of the characters, dialogs, and the general storyline was horribly bad. Could have been better.

What I hate about Elfen Lied is the amount of generic anime shoved into it; I absolutely hate formulaic female protagonists (unless they are generally funny).

I can't stand most of this summer's shows because of how anime they are.

I liked Gosick, but Dantalian and Kamisama no Memochou are too close to the basic mold for me to watch em.

I say all of this but if it is a generic harem, like Infinite Stratos or Ladies v Butlers, I'd keep watching if the fan service was legit - but in my more serious anime, I need the characters to have a little more to em.

I think if Elfen Lied came out in 2010, it would not be as popular is it is today. The reason why so many people list it in this top anime charts is because they watched it when they were younger and when they only had access to the DVDs at their local rental/buy store.

I don't even know where to start with this. Picture related, it's either you or what I'd have to do to try and understand where you're coming from on this. Possibly both.

If you break elfen lied into little pieces and considered some of the little pieces, (like single moments of drama, or the music, and some of the art) then you have to admit some of those little pieces are pretty good

And I think that merits a single enjoyable watch through
