That depends on the dealer and the merchandise. If you're after new manga in Japanese, you'd probably be better off buying in the Dealer's Room if you don't have access to Japanese bookstores. Similarly, companies like FUNimation sell their wares for real cheap at conventions sometimes.

Most of the other products are hit or misses, though. A lot of booths will drop their prices on Sunday, though. Sometimes drastically.

I have a friend who bought the $200 Z Gundam LE DVD box for $40 on a Sunday. This was over three years ago, and I'm still jealous.

Depends on what vendors you go to and when. Some of the vendors are total ripoffs,and they get away with it because alot of people that go to Otakon will throw money at any anime merchandise. But there are plenty of vendors that have good deals and neat stuff. Like one vendor that sells 2 manga volumes for 10,3 or 15 (or 20,dont remember). Best day to head to the dealers room is Sunday though. Thursday night is just for pre-reg badges and nothing else. The pick-up is quick and the lines move fairly fast.

I've never heard of anyone lining up on Thursday night. Baltimore isn't the safest of cities, especaily for the largely suburb attendants. Besides, I doubt the police would allow it.

Getting your badge shouldn't be a problem and you may not have to wait as long, but I've never done it before. You may want to check out Otakon's forums for info on that. I doubt they'll have you join the line to enter the con after getting your badge, though, since you have to enter the convention center anyway.

Did you preregister?
If so then make sure you enter at the FRONT of the convention. Security will not let you get in any other way without a badge so they direct everyone to the front. Its bullshit if you are practically next or connected to the convention center and still have to walk around the damn thing just to get in. Also never forget your badge but this is common knowledge. If you plan on getting an 18+ paper wriststrap (FUCKING WRISTSTRAP WHY?!) Then make sure you do not rip it off or modify it.

I still say they should just use an 18+ sticker to put on your badges rather than use those fucking paper wriststraps. They are easier to see, they do not have to be on you for the ENTIRE convention and its cheaper to make. Plus I do not have to worry about ruining it when in the shower.

But I agree wristband is a horrible method...AB cards at the door for 18+ events, which is both more effective and less annoying (though I do like the idea of an easily identifiable 18+ marker).

It's not just me. The large majority of /a/ agrees that emoticons and abbreviations are redundant on an IMAGE BOARD.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Whereas "lol" is worth 3 words.
Posting an image is not only more efficient to get your point across, but it will save you from being bashed for acting like an illiterate little faggot.
Next time you type "lol" or some other bullshit abbreviations, try rereading your sentence. If it makes sense without it, which it will, then try posting an image in stead.
