bitching about the 'aberration' of Leninism IS infantile, fact is his
equating of 'mainstream' Marxists with his Libertarian Socialism is an
attempt to de-legitimise what Lenin and Trotsky accomplished. He talks
of figures like Rosa Luxemburg criticising them, but neglects to inform
his audience of Rosa's appreciation for what the Soviet Union was, the
first Socialist society, and it was broadly considered a vanguard for
the 'wave' of revolutions were going to sweep Europe. He even mentions
it, but brushes it aside, because guess what? The mainstream
'revolutions' in Germany, France and Britain failed, while the USSR
limped on after Stalin purged every last Socialist that opposed him,
mainstream or otherwise, including Trotsky. Finally, Lenin and Trotsky
accomplished what they did because the peasantry, not the proletariat,
was the driving force of the revolution, in direct contradiction of
Marx's analysis. By any 'mainstream' Marxist analysis, the October
Revolution was impossible, yet it happened. |
