Excuse me what. From what I've seen they're still doing their 2-pass encodes with set bitrates like they've been doing for quite a few years already for HD material. I do know that some groups/people who release on private trackers do CRF encodes, but I sure haven't seen those end up on public trackers.

Then again I don't really follow western TV that much, but the scene actually changing to CRF just sounds quite unbelievable. Are there some new rules that would reflect this?

Most use capital letters for the CRC, but some oddballs who type it out instead of copy-pasting have it lowercase. Oh, and the quality tag format differs from group to group.
