Hi /a/, I'm visiting my family for the 4th of july. I'll cut to the chase because blog shit. I ran across my brother (age 22) streaming anime. I looked on his screen and this is what I saw.

Is streaming anime really THIS BAD?

To the streamers: Why do you put up with this shit? Why are you people blissfully ignorant?
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:04 No.51495878
Ex streamer here. Yes, it really is.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:06 No.51495946
There are a bunch of better streaming sites too if you want to continue on being a faggot.

What exactly does a "good" streaming site look like?

Try not to make yourself look too stupid.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:09 No.51496073
I can't really say anything because I download my shit, but most streaming sites unfortunately have that shit. The ones that don't have annoying backgrounds keep the stupid chatroom.

I've had friends in college argue that they can get kicked out for pirating stuff and using p2p downloads, which makes sense to me.

What I don't understand is streaming outside of that.

I doubt one exists, as ads are a free website's form of revenue.

I have done a lot worse using my colleges internet connection. Bittorrenting is very easy to do over my college's internet connection as long I have the port randomized and stuff like that.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:19 No.51496402
I'd only ever stream an anime if it was on another persons computer (cousins or back in highschool)
Really, there's no real redeeming points to streaming. it just saves a little bit of space on a computer. It's low quality, annonying to deal with depending on the site, and...just stupid.

No it doesn't. It saves a temp file on your computer.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:22 No.51496471
As a part-time streamer, it is that bad. Most of it can be avoided by full-screening the video.

As for why, many universities ban torrenting. Back when I was new it was just the most obvious way.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:22 No.51496487
Just finished marathoning both seasons of Shakugan no Shana through streaming. You mad?

Seriously, those shitty streaming sites with NURUTU banners everywhere are the 480 avi encodes of the streaming world

Where are the GOOD streaming sites, where you can possibly get good 720p/1080p rips online? you can get them at http://Lurkthefuckmore.com

This is how I got into anime.
I streamed Full Metal Alchemist on a site like what I just drew in my pic while playing some MMO on the other half of my screen.
Moved over to youtube to watch Lucky Star, didn't understand most of the references.
Migrated from /b/ to /a/ one day by accident and stuck around, learned from one of those "ARE YOU NEW TO /a/? READ THIS" images to download anime. Started using VLC to watch mp4 and avi. I was amazed at the quality of that. Later got CCCP and MPC, downloaded mkv files.

There are so many websites that aggregate DDLs. Most subgroups even list a few on their sites.

Cousin of mine watches anime occasionally, and if we have'nt already downloaded an episode, we'd end up streaming it to "save time" (bullshit, yes, but its been a while since it happened)
Also in Highschool, I had a online class, which useually ended up with me catching up on shows in the back of the class
As for the space deal, Yeah, i know. But then again, im not saying streaming is fucking good. Hell, i stay away from that shit. I just understand why some people tend to stream. If you ever say streaming is better than downloading, then your just fucking stupid.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:30 No.51496778
I actually started out on Youtube, which is even worse. Then I went on to streaming, and then I became torrenting master race.

I remember Megaupload had this stupid limit to how much you could watch... Shit sucked.

    because
    1. I don't own a computer
    2. this laptop only has 23% space left
    3. I had to quit my school job which paid me 7.50, and I have to redo the whole college job thing If I want my position back.
    4. I pretty much use Hulu if needed to.
    >> Anonymous 07/04/11(Mon)18:35 No.51496903
If you need HD space, just delete the file after you've watched it...

CoalGuys streamed a few 720p episodes of K-On!! with identical quality to the version you'd download. it was pretty awesome actually

My laptop only has 4 gigs of space left and I manage fine. You can always delete them when you're done with them. I made this simple guide last year, maybe you could learn something.

Honestly, the official FUNimation streams are decent. I'd probably appreciate Tatami Galaxy more if I didn't have to deal with the fucking commercials, though.

Now I have fast internet and I download blissfully.
