Actually, when we do a postmortem on the series, I really hope that that's how most of the character obituaries work out.

Because if it turns out that political infighting is more deadly that ice lich things, I'm going to have to revoke GRRM's right to call his books fantasy. He can't just build up to this ominous threat without it having some effect, and its going to be hard enough for the Others to have an effect without getting past the wall. The biggest fuck up character in the story is Brandon. Not the cripple Brandon but Ned's brother Brandon. The Cleansing scene would be amazing to see animated if only because Jordan handled it so badly on paper. I mean there's trying to make a scene feel jumbled and confusing, and then there's changing points of view every single time a given confrontation was about to get interesting while still not giving a good picture of the battle as a whole.
