It is a manga about the Ubuntu user experience.
Not sure if its is soo horrible its bad, or that it is just bad.
    Sort of a ankward zone.
Sort of good PR, will clear up some misconceptions, but a horrible manga.
    But good art xD

It is a good way to get into linux, not really any more complicated than windows either. Just expect some minor annoyances if you enjoy lots of video games. (Although dual booting with windows is an option)

It's a start if you want to get into Linux, but the newest version is a bit disappointing if you ask me. Consider Linux Mint if you want.

If you still want to discuss this, let's move it to /g/, shall we?

i might as well throw in my knowledge into the mix,
it is a good OS, i used it when i got a corrupted sys32 file as a temp os and tbh, the only reason i moved back to windows 7 was cus a friend of mine got me a legal free copy, but if your after something that will keep you working on your laptop (or just want to flip the bird to windows and apple), then ubuntu is your friend, if not, you might as well stick with windows or apple

any questions? ill answer with what i can

ubuntu has been heading downhill since 9.04.
debian is the way to go for desktop linux now.

Not sure, Debian has this issue with weird update cycles.
And that you need to compile your own nvidia if you want to run the testing kernel.
Besides, 10.10 was quite great, but it looks like 11.04 could be a large step down too :(
    >> Anonymous 04/24/11(Sun)14:46 No.48612428
    >>48612264
I use Linux Mint Debian which draws from Debian Testing so there are no weird update cycles. Instead, it's a rolling distribution. But, since Linux Mint is behind the os, nvidia works after downloading the relevant drivers. Just my 2 cents.

10.10 is still good. It's the Unity crap that makes it heading in the wrong direction. I heard Mint is a good alternative for entry level Linux, haven't tried it yet. Next distro I'm gonna install is Arch.

Ubunchu was a good read btw. But /a/ never discusses good things. I bet the last Ubunchu thread was the one I made like a few months ago.

Oh, and whoever keeps using emoticons - Stop. Now. You are on /a/. Not on Gaia.
