Most of Ito's stories have things that are bizzare and nonsensical.

Gyo is great, and they aren't going to make an anime out of Tomie when there are already 8 films and the franchise is waning in popularity. Short stories would be a neat idea but would require more work since you'd need to draft designs for way more characters, also it could be a harder thing to sell as a product.

Never imagined this getting an OVA nor ufotable animating it.
