No, it's actually really good. The animation is well done, the character designs are memorable, the story is touching, the music is nice. Plus, it's a gateway into shota that anyone who isn't already gay goes through.

It's a coming of age story about growing up and facing reality, it's laced with heavy symbolism, but even without that it's a solid genuinely enjoyable anime.
