Afterall their words for breakfast, lunch, and dinner--asagohan, hirugohan, and bangohan respectively--use the word gohan, which literally means rice. The prefexs in each of the words is a time. (Asa=morning, hiru=midday, and ban=evening). So literally the words for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are "morning rice", "midday rice", and "evening rice." |
