In a sense it was torturing the viewers. But it drove the point of boredom home better than any narration could possibly do. If they had shown completely different scenarios for all the repetitions it would seem fun.

Haruhi is Twilight for boys. It's a show about a normal boy surrounded by supernatural girls(and a guy) who all want his attention. The difference is that Twilight was actually written well, the main character isn't a self-plug of the author there is no fan baiting fanservice and moe shit for perverted recluses who are both the show and books central consumer, and is entertaining for both male and female audiences alike. Haruhi is Twilight for boys cept worse. (Though fans will of course continue to cry and deny it even when the facts are given to them straight it ruins the delusion they've befallen under you see and they can't handle that)

The fans are the worst on /a/ next to Narutofans, because unlike Strike Witches, K-ON!, Bleach, One Piece, Key and PSG fans, they actual believe their show is more than it is. They try to elevate it beyond its status as a fairly good moe show by saying that it is super deep and has lots of cool magical time line ESP shit going down.

It has a cookie cutter plot and characters, the art just copies whatever style is popular at the time, completely changing in the second season to mimic K-ON!, and Aya Hirano voices the MC. There is nothing that puts this show above normal moe girl anime.

Anyone who's pissed at EE needs to watch the movie. It's fucking amazing and more than makes up for it (even though I genuinely enjoyed every second of the Endless Eight; and yes I watched it as it came out, one episode a week).
