I always hear from people here how they are Hikki and NEETS, afraid to go out or that they don't have friends and so on.
Do you just say that to stand out or is that really the case for many here?

there arent many parents in the USA who would actively support a NEET lifestyle of their children. usually, the kids get kicked the fuck out.

WRONG! Knowing plenty of people who are trust fund babies, yeah, US parents say they want their kids to go out and get jobs, but as long as that trust is going they don't do shit.

It's impossible to be a NEET or Hikki in America unless you've fucking hit the jackpot on the Megamillions.

    Fucking this.

I work from home also, I occasionally go out to the bar with friends. However I do make it a point to leave the house once a day, even if it is just to smoke a cigarette on the porch.

I don't qualify as a hikkikomori or NEET, because I have a job. But I sure don't have any friends besides /a/.

NEET is someone who is lazy. A Hikki is someone who just can't fit into Society because the values and ideas of it is just too frightening or alien for the person. That's why they close themselves in because they just want their peace.

I have schizophrenia, I am a hikki/NEET, my older brother is wealthy so he supports me and I'm currently living alone.

I do have a degree but I am unable to work.

Same. I'm definately not a hikki, but all my friends are scattered across different unis so I only keep in contact with them by text and we never see each other anymore. I go to a community college but aside that I almost never leave the house or talk to anyone.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/10(Sun)23:16 No.42199087
My parents are pretty well off, so it's not like I'm draining them dry or anything.

But yeah, I don't have any friends, girl or guy. I don't have a job either and I spend all my days watching anime, reading manga, playing VN's or various online vidya.

I lived two years as a NEET/shut-in. No job, no school and NEVER went out of the house. As for >>42198921 's comment, my parents simply didn't give a damn and I was left alone to do what I wanted. Though after said two years, I got back into college, got a diploma and now work as a web designer/programmer. All is good in the world. Other then work and the bare necessities, I still don't step out of the apartment. Pic unrelated.

Because you have a terrible family that's willing to let you be a loser with no impact or value to society.

You would be surprised at how many things people do on the internet to just felt accepted or special.
