I just want to comment, that whatever reason he agreeded to do it, it isn't money. Toriyama has enough cash to go around.So it is very likely he was convinced he could bring something new to the table.(Lunch brought back would be good. An emphasis on humour would be even better)

Akira Toriyama is probably the LEAST creative person to be noted for his creative ability. All his is now is a whore, who would not think twice about getting on his knees and blowing a dozen men if a publishing company offered him enough money to do so.
Milking the series yet again, look at what happened to GT. Well, the most recent OVA for Z was a good watch, but can't Toriyama return with a new series. Dragon Ball is legendary, but it should just stay like it is. Even though the manga ended years ago, they still make games that sell like hotcakes because of nostalgia. Not saying I don't want him to return to manga, but I don't think the series should be milked further than it has been. It's good as it is.

I guess it does kinda make sense to ask the oldies to help restart the industry. Though, what Akira Tori should do is redo the DB & Z mangas in an alternate story, different villians and plots, but with some of the same stuff that everybody liked such as the Dragon Balls, Piccolo, but only if he's more sinister than before and not becoming a "good guy" by DBZ (more like an antihero like, Venom is to Spiderman?), Vegeta in a sort of Viral comparison from TTGL, Gohan not being a total wimp, you know.
