It's mostly because asians in general and Japanese in particular don't like foreigners. The term Xenophobia was practically invented for Japan, it's integral to their culture. They even have a separate alphabet just for foreign words that have been taken into the Japanese language in order to keep the language pure. Look at how they treat anyone there who is a half breed. It doesn't matter if you were born and raised there, if you aren't full blooded Japanese you are a foreigner and thus lower than the dog shit they scrape off their shoes. This from a friend of mine who's mother is Japanese. She occasionally makes trips back there but she doesn't take her children anymore. Even though they speak perfect idiomatic Japanese and know how to act in the culture they are still treated like trash even by her family and this is considered normal and proper.
