10/21/10(Thu)17:33 No.41570789There are a lot of problems with the concept.
First
of all, there are always fans who don't want to post in the general.
Instead they go and make their own thread. So now there are TWO threads
about the anime. This happens quite a lot. Therefore, it fails at
reducing number of threads. A secondary effect of the above is that the fanbase is split in two. The general thread group, and the "nomads" so to speak. Furthermore,
quality of discussion rapidly falls once everyone starts to assume that
everyone in the thread chain is on the same page. This happened a lot
back during Umineko, stuff like "But we already talked about that four
threads ago, our conclusion was ___" Because of this, like K-ON and
Strike Witches, instead of STOPPING when material ceases to exist, they
devolve into roleplaying, Imagedumping, tripfag circlejerking, and all
sorts of things just to pretend to still be relevant.
And lastly,
they are threads without a purpose. A good thread is one such as "This
last episode had me thinking, what if ____? Would _____?" "I just want to talk about this series but don't have any idea what aspect" is a very poor way of starting a real discussion. |
