presume you will have to hardsub, that is unless there is now a program
that can take the .ass script and turn it into Bluray style subtitles.
If not then you will need to hardsub it which implies a loss of quality
as there is no way to hardsub without re-encoding.
However, the
bitrate you can use on Bluray is high (I think maybe 20mbps and those
rips average 5mbps), so when you are re-encoding, set a stupid high
quality level to minimise quality loss. That said, the quality loss we
are talking about is minscule anyway.
Your best option is: Extract H.264 from MKV Extract subs from MKV > convert to Bluray format subs Extract audio from MKV, re-encode to AC3 if it isn't already Mux to mts or whatever the container format is used by Bluray Drop
the muxed file into Nero. It should figure out that it's a compatible
file and place it on the disc structure without further re-encoding.
Second
best option is same as above but instead of muxing the raw H.264 from
the MKV, you will have to hardsub it first, then mux the hardsub.
Yeah,
any questions hit me up. I know my shit, but I haven't been in the loop
for 2 or 3 years, so I don't know what new tools are available. I still
know all the general tools so getting shit in the right format
shouldn't be a problem. Fortunately the process is much the same as it
used to be, it's just getting the shit on disc that I've never done
before (although I know the theory behind it) |
