If you want a really mature anime that you take in like fine wine I would suggest Monster.

If you want an anime that short and sweet which reflects on human nature try Kino’s Journey

If you desire a really depressing melancholy anime go with Casshern Sins or Kaiba.

    Hey OP

here's a list of good anime someone took the time to type up.

I really disagree with the ranks but most of the anime is generally good.

Going back to angel's egg for a minute, some of the music sounds really similar to the Lavender Town theme from pokemon. Anybody know off the top of their head if it's the same guy?

If you guys are recommending Casshern Sins, then you might as well recommend Birdy the Mighty Decode.

Not as experimental as some of the other stuff in here, but thoughtful and well executed. Defiantly a cut above.

Sorry, but I found it to be rather flawed in it's blatant obscurity, it felt like it was trying too hard to be obscure.

I'll second this because Birdy is painfully overlooked. What could have been a silly genre series or dumb ecchi comedy turned out to be one of the best shows of the decade.

Kazuki Akane's other works like Escaflowne the movie and Noein are also worth watching.

    Lowtier Shit subs

    Shittier Shit dubs

    Thats how I view it.

I must confess, I didn't really 'get' Angel's Egg. I can tell it's a really well-made movie and all, but I always find it hard to evaluate "deep" or "artistic" movies like this. It does have some great art design and atmospheric moments though.
