I almost forgot how many harem anime was out there (harem used to be old moe slice-of-life), and how few DEEP animu was made.
Nevertheless, 1998 and 1999 seem to be golden years for anime.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/10(Fri)14:37 No.40147028
    >>40146914
It was much more difficult to import and spread fan-translated animu back in the day. Back then you needed to know someone at a college who had access to video editing equipment and pay them to make you some tapes.
It was usually more worth it to wait for the official releases because that tended to screen out the crap and usually only the good shows bothered being licensed.
Now that it's so easy to get it digitally, and so easy to slap subtitles onto it, it opens the door to EVERYTHING being translated and being posted and shared, no matter how bad.

Yeah, but my point is that fansubbers nowadays can just go back and sub those shows right?

And you know why they don't? Because most of them don't care about the goddamn stories at all! They don't really want to bring quality programs to a wider audience. They just want to increase their own popularity and clout by doing the more popular shows.

    It's fucking disgusting.

    >>40147003

Probably true for the most part, but I'm sure there are may exceptions. I mean, Baccano wasn't very popular in Japan, right? Well what if that had been released in the early 90s? We never would have heard of it here. Popularity doesn;t necessarily equal quality.

Take into account that it's 366 days with only those select shows. With more anime being produced now, even if it's not all SS Rank Excellent Perfect Immaculate TV Anime, you still have a lot of choice in what to watch, and a lot of variety. I am certainly not saying that shows are better now, but you have more at least watchable things to pick from.

Hell, some of these seasons have nothing of worth at all.

I also liked Jura Tripper back when it. There are VHS-fansubs for the first four episodes and I surprisingly still enjoyed it and would really like to see more.

    >Are there charts for the years before 94?

I've been lazy about finishing them but they should be pretty easy. It is pretty much just as limited as 94. With OVAs being a lot more dominant in the late 80s up until 91 or so.

2006 alone has more watchable stuff than 1990-1997
