Even still, one of the joys of reading Narita's works is for the crazy stuff and his characters' interaction. Honorifics plays a big role in how he portrays his characters, and how they view/respect/show hate to other characters. And besides! I'm not the one they should be targeting! Books are cheap to publish, despite what it might appear. They should be targeting normal teens, adolescents, adults, whatever. Sticking to the anime market is dooming them to failure. but I firmly believe that these novels can succeed on their own merits in the fantasy section next to whatever else is there.

When you work in such a small industry you get really jaded to what will sell and what won't (and most of the time you're right). And let's face it, from their perspective stuff like Baccano! is small, obscure, and when they look at how FUNi's DVDs sold (not well at all) it makes them say, "Ehhhhh..."

Now on the other hand, Baccano! ALSO has the potential to explode and be very popular here, particularly because it's so American already. And that'd be the gist of my argument for it, if I were to make one.
